"Photos Of The Month" Returns

I've put the Photos Of The Month section back on the homepage. It's fully automated now, and will refresh every month. The logic for selecting the photos is as follows:

1. Photos are chosen from all images submitted over the last 2 months.
2. Photos must have at least 3 user ratings within a 30-day period.
3. The images are sorted by avg user rating, total number of votes, and total number of views.

So... Make sure you go to the Photos Section and vote for your favorite photos!!!

I'm thinking of ways of making it easier/more fun to rate photos and leave comments.

I'd love to hear any suggestions you guys have.

It couldn't be much simpler .... but perhaps if it had 'smilies' rather than 'Poor'-'Good'.

Would anyone really say another members photo was poor?

Pictures of Bipasha naked here!!!

True... Maybe have anonymous voting, so that more people feel comfortable leaving comments?

You'd be amazed.

The reason members can view the ratings another member give a photo was to stop people giving poor ratings, a couple of members had a lot of fun racing around the photos handing out 1's to most photos.

They stopped when we allowed members to see who'd given those ratings.

.... I agree that it's good to see who's made any comments - as I like to look at their photos as well. Often someone who takes the time to leave a comment - has an interesting album.

I am having trouble uploading my pictures. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have tried several times and go through the process of choosing the photos, naming them, describing them and then submitting them. I wait and it says that they have been uploaded successfully but i can't ever find them and nothing shows up in "my photos". I am confused and sad. Really though, I need some help. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hey Conor,

You used to be a regular selection for POTM. I hope that resumes as well!

You're not getting any errors at all? Do they come up on the site homepage?

Wow! Has the quality of pictures submitted increased since the Photo Of The Month came back, or is it just my imagination??
