Nightlife Section

I was wondering that it'd be a good idea if there was a "Nightlife" section on IndiaMike, exactly like the restaurants and stuff, but just pubs, bars, clubs, etc. What do you guys think?

Are you guys thinking of one forum for all nightlife in India, or one per city/state???

I don't know whether most of India's nightlife is worth mentioning, but there can be one on like Delhi, Bombay, Goa, Bangalore and then the rest. One plain nightlife section can include as antisense said, gigs, one section on beverages and the other on establishments. Or it could be set up like the hotels section in this forum. But I'm kind of aiming for "NIGHTLIFE" and then sub-sections of "DRINKS", "BARS" and "GIGS". I don't imagine the gig section would be packed full of dates, as I've never seen live western music performed in India.

Look on Google for a Bangalore-based band called Phenom.

The matter can be discussed with all Imikers family members and sought their opinions on this very topic.

OK, not a bad idea, as the scene (especially outside the real big cities) is difficult to find. If there is any.....

Flashback. Bombay (then still) 1990. Because of heavy flooding during the monsoon all transport is out and I'm more or less stuck in Shelleys hotel in Colaba. Not a bad place to be, but not a lot of nightlifr.

Not a lot of night life at all, so I end up in the bar of the Taj Mahal hotel. Hey, that's what credit cards are for. There is a group of about 15 westerners, who stand at the bar and the rounds stat flowing. After 3 and a half hours everybody is slightly drunk and it gets worse when we start drinking cocktails. I remember the Irish couple that teaches me "that Guinness does'nt travel, but not a lot more. Well I remember that we had a really good time and lots of laughs. Around 1 o'clock at night we call it a day and with some fear we ask for the check. "No problem sir, it already has been paid". Paid??? By whom? Well not yet, but that silent Arab gentleman that has been sitting at the end bar has picked up everybody's bill. We haven't heard him all night(at all), but thank him extensively (with the prices at the Taj it must cost him certainly more than 1000 dollars). He just smiles and tells us that he has had the best conversation in a bar in years.

The hangover lasts till 1899 hours next day....

It was a good night though....

Hans
