Forgot to mention, most of the forums on here are crawled by google, so for those who are used to it, that can be a useful additional tool for key word or phrase searches. To save having to faff about going to the google "search internet site" option, just type in site:indiamike.com and a space before your search terms.

So for instance to search for wine making, you'd search for

site:indiamike.com wine making (without the smiley)

Yep; it's also provided as the handy "simple search" option on top of the old search engine

btw To nag and whine a bit, wine making will get you any results featuring either the word wine or making of course. To prevent this, a search for "wine making" will get you just that precise combination of words.

See also here for instance for a very basic introduction on the art of performing a Boolean search: http://adam.ac.uk/info/boolean.html . Or try http://www.internettutorials.net/boolean.asp (I'm just googling it up myself of course, you can look for more by searching the web for +boolean +search.)

Actually, the example I gave will only give results which feature both the words wine and making, though not necessarily consecutively, which would be the case for a "wine making" search.

This is because Google, in common with most search engines takes "AND" as the default setting.

Nadreg, apologies for the number of posts to this thread!

I will respond to some of these comments shortly. There is a problem with the new search engine currently that I'm working on right now. I will let you know when it's all back online.

The search engine has been fixed. Please let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks.

That is correct. The new search engine ANDs all the search terms together, although they could occur in any sequence.

I missed this post earlier...

Yes, if you use the new search engine (the "Search IndiaMike.com" textbox on the site header), the results are much more focused in terms of matches in the title and body. You can also filter results by threads, hotel profiles, images, etc.
