New Post numbers often wrong

Has anyone else noticed this? Go to http://www.indiamike.com and in the User CP on the right, it tells you 'New Posts:' and a number. But if you click on that link, or click on the 'New Posts' link on the bar above, the page that returns often has many less than the number given. For instance, the page is telling me 25 new posts, yet the page I go to only shows 14. I guess some programmer is using the wrong variable.

[conspiracy theory]Or maybe its just that the posts I can't see are those Secret Ones that only paid up IM members can access - the ones where 20 year old Swedish twins are asking for travel partners, or the bar in Goa that gives free beer to Irish residents... [/conspiracy theory]

Tim, I think the counter gives the actual number of new posts and what you see on the following screen is the unique threads against which these posts were made, which is often less. But I would still go with your conspiracy theory

I don't find IM very reliable on "unread posts". It seams to set them as read even if you haven't, eg if you do something else on the site.

Hey ho....
