"My subscribed threads" does not refresh

I was just wondering why "My subscribed threads" does not refresh? I am checking "My subscribed threads" quite often, but the last couple of weeks this section keeps on showing that I have an x number of new posts, while when I check the thread(s), I notice that I've already read those posts a couple of times before.

Thanks for your help!

Before anyone more technically minded replies, and forgive me if this seems like a rude question, but are you absolutely certain that you were logged in successfully when you read the posts that are showing as unread?

How rude of you! Just kidding..

Yes I am absolutely sure that I was logged in successfully all those times. Hope that helps in finding the solution.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, you poked your tongue out at me!

"Subscribed Threads" works for me so it's obviously nothing simple. Good luck getting it sorted, if you're still online maybe it's worth saying what operating system and browser you're using. Not that I am pretending to have any idea what difference that would make, but I've noticed that the "guys who know" often ask about that stuff.

Sorry about that...it happened before I had the chance to stop myself

OK here it is: I use Firefox and Windows XP. Hope that the "guys who know" will reply!

I sometimes have the same issue - with Firefox and WinXP.
However it does "unbold" the threads after I've read them. And sorry, I have no idea what clears the list, just sometimes I come back to it and it says "You have No New Threads" and sometimes I come back and it's the same list, just unbolded.

You can clear the list by deleting items from it; then you are no longer subscribed to those threads.

It is the bold-type threads that contain unread posts. The other remain on the list because you are still subscribed to them, in the sense that you are watching them for new posts.

On another forum I have about ten pages of subscribed threads. On any particular visit to that forum, maybe six or seven will have new posts, and be in bold at the top of the list. From time to time I go through and remove subscriptions to threads that are out-dated or that no longer interest me.

If I want to know about all new posts since my last visit, on any of the forums I frequent, I use the new posts function. I can then skim the list and see which I want to read. That listing takes a few minutes to update, so if you use it twice in a short time it may still show threads you did read as having new posts --- but after it has updated, it will not show the same threads next time (whether you read them or not); only the ones with new posts.

Deleting web cookies or trying ctrl + f5 might help.

Don't delete your web cookies if you have lots of sites where you tick remember me, keep me logged in, etc etc etc ---- you'll find you no longer are, and if you have forgotten the password .

Pressing F5 just causes your browser to refresh the current screen from the server, in case it might have loaded a cached, out of date copy from your cache. That's unlikely.

I guess there are lots of ways to "work around it" but the thing is, I don't want to unsubscribe from those threads, I just want to see when there are new replies, and how many. So I will pay attention to that "bold, unbold" thing, but I still find it confusing that "My unsubscribed threads" keeps on saying, you have 8 new replies for this thread, and 4 for that one, etc., while that is not correct.

I guess that it must be a bug, and it would be interesting for the guys that manage this site technically to know about this.

Curious. I thought, from the subsequent posts, that it might be a misunderstanding.
