More Space for Everyone

Hello all,

With the move to the new server, I am increasing the Private Message and Photo Upload limits as follows:

PM Restrictions:
Users with 50 or more posts can now have up to 1,500 PMs in their accout. Previous limit was 400.
Users with 250 or more posts can now have up to 2,500 PMs in their account. Previous limit was 400.
Users with less than 50 posts will continue to have a limit of 250 PMs in their account.

Image Uploads:
As of now, all registered users regardless of their post counts have unlimited space for photo uploads. However, we still prefer quality over quantity...!

Enjoy!

Is there still a daily limit?

The daily limit didn't seem to implemented, although it was stated on the screen? Perhaps there should be 'flood' protection.

I think a limit of No PMs for those with No posts would be popular, especially among the female members --- most of whom never bother to report the mostly innocent but still unwanted approaches they regularly receive.

Or a minimum of 5 posts before being allowed to PM?

I still don't receive any unsolicited PMs

I think you may start receiving suggestive and raunchy PM's, and you never know, one may even be from a female member.

I think initially (maybe till 10 posts) there should be no PMs to other members except for writing to moderators or admin. Don't know how that can be worked out but will surely avoid unsolicited PM's from unwanted members!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

Curiously, all the comments on zero PMs for zero posts issue so far have been from moderators.

Maybe the membership doesn't see it as useful?

Generally though, the new server seems faster, smoother, BETTER!

I did comment that it was a welcome move..

however as moderators you are better aware about the issues and impacts as compared to other normal members..

Sorry, Shashank --- I meant specifically no PMs for members who have not posted anything yet.

That wasn't clear in my post. I've now edited it.

Its something that wont have a major impact..if someone wants to misuse it, he/she can make 5-10-15 posts in a jiffy and get on with the PM..

I mm opinion, PM shud be open to all and when someone gets the page where he is supposed to write the PM, there a warning can be displayed that misuse of the same can lead to permanent Ban from the forum...

Te onus of reporting the same would be on impacted member OR 'victim'

Not sure about the no posts no PMs rule. I got a couple of PMs asking for more information about something. I guess they were feeling too shy to post.

Speaking as a moderator,

I don't see too many members reporting unsolicited PM's.

Is it that people hesitate to report? Or is it that this 'problem' is not as acute as we fear?

I don't know.

I guess this might not that very acute..otherwise why would someone who has been abused would hesitate to report these issues...
