Mods - please check the spelling.

The description of Punjab & Haryana says "Share advice and tips on Amristsar, the Golden Temple, and the Punjab area"

Is that a alternate spelling for Amritsar?

Here's the page that shows the incorrect spelling Amristsar [note the extra s as I copy it here and in link]:

http://www.indiamike.com/india/forumdisplay.php?f=20

[I added another note below as well to say the same]

Just a spelling error. AMRITSAR is correct.

It was always called Mumbai (u as in "put") locally, "Bum-bai" (u as in "but") in much of India, and Bombay by the Westernized.

There are many such cases. For example Allahabad is actually Ilahabad, but the English thought an Islamic name was likely to begin with "Allah.."

For some reason, many people tend to (incorrectly but commonly) pronounce Ahmedabad as "Ahemdabad". Easier on the tongue I suppose?

Look at what I copied from the top of page description of the Punjab & Haryana forum: AMRISTSAR.

There is an extra S before the T.

The city is named after the Amrit Sarovar, not the Amrist Sarovar.

http://www.indiamike.com/india/forumdisplay.php?f=20
Here's the page where I see it spelled incorrectly at the top.

Moderator note: Relevant elements of this thread have been forwarded for action. May take some time, though.. theres a long list pending.

Oh, I added my two bits there.. Gujarat is misspelled too, I think.
