Missing "New Posts" etc. box top right

The usual box that contains user name, new posts and today's posts has disappeared.

In its place seems to be a top bar listing:

Welcome Username
My Inbox (No)
My Profile
My Settings
Log Out

Is this deliberate, or is there some sort of glitch?

I rather liked having a one click "new posts" link on every page.

Oh, it's not just me then.

There is still a "Subscribed Threads" link at the bottom of the "Quick Links" menu by the way.

You guys are too quick for me...

Yes, the change is intentional. I am cleaning up some of the GUI elements in anticipation of some more changes. The new post links were redundant, since they were there in the Quick Links navbar anyway.

The change is necessary, as I'm starting implementing some changes as a result of the last feedback round that I did, and some of the feedback threads that are under discussion on the site.

Thanks.

It would be good to get the box with the new post and today's post links back soon - the easiest way to follow what's going on.

Previous remarks withdrawn Shows how observant I am that I'd never spotted those links in the navbar

Aaaarrrggghhhhh!

Not redundant; a single click to what many of us daily users use as our interface into the site.

You could sya the same thing about "My Profile" --- which is also on the quick links, and probably something that most people look at only very occasionally. How about swapping it out and putting New Posts back, or putting New Posts on the main ribbon menu?

The look is better, without the box... but fine tuning please?

Gotta agree with Nick. The first thing I do after logging in is click on my name in the top-right hand corner, which brings me straight to all my unread subscribed threads. Having to go to quick links, and then subscribed threads seems a bit much.

Slight difference, because I use[d] the actual New Posts link.

But of Nadreg says, "Shan't!" then those wanting the New Post list at a single click can put the following link on their bookmarks toolbar:

Pretty please?

Seriously, while I'm sure that "my profile" gets far fewer clicks than the ones we're mentioning here, I do understand that it's a standard and it's useful for new members.

Even so, I'm sure you'll find room for a few more direct links.

<pedant>On my browser, links aren't single click, it's one click to open the bookmarks and one click to select one</pedant>

If you click on the My Settings link, it takes you to the same page that the username link took you to. I renamed the link since it really is the user setting page.

Nick, I'm not saying "Shan't" yet... but I would like to let it sink in a bit for the community before I make any changes. I'm glad you liked the cleaner look, though.

and there's already a password typed in...

The box next to the username box shows numerous circles, as if a password has been typed in - is this the way it should be?

It is not the correct password and it used to be a blank box.

Nadreg...

Haylo: Get a better browser

A few minutes later

having tried logging out....

The "new" setup doesn't remember me from the old.

hfot2: that's probably just a 'dummy' password, I guess.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, Nick. Are you reporting a bug?

It is dummy text to let people know that it is a password box.

I'm missing the box, too. Especially the quick access to the list with latest threads.

What I like now is the "my settings" link with all my subscribed threads and all other info.
