Infractions
Edited
Hi all, Last month I received 2 infractions first I had to look up what infractions means http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infractions then it was given by somebody named as forum leader. While at the time I was busy with other things hence didn't see it but today saw it. One of the infractions was received ... on some private now don't know who this person is as he hasn't done even a single post, also how was he able to give an infraction? Can anybody give an infraction or not? The dates are also somewhat mysterious. Can any or all the mods look up & lemme know what's going on? I tried to search on both 'forum leader' as well as 'infractions' as well as 'infraction' thinking probably somebody has written about this before but it seems nobody has touched the subject. So please lemme know what or how the procedure is? IIRC isn't there a stand that one member cannot moderate another member. There is just a report post which can be done which the mods can take the appropriate action. Confused Last edited by machadinha : Jun 5th, 2007 at 05:22. Reason: edited out specifics. The infraction and warning system was recently changed by me based on feedback I received from some of the members. The change is discussed here: Mods - colour change
Part of the change involves making the PMs come from "Forum Leader". To answer your question, only the moderators can hand out infractions and warnings.

Hi all, Read through all 7 pages so I could respond to what I feel . Phew ![]() Anyway so here's the deal. I'm glad I got infractions on something as it also helps to understand things & see the chinks on the system. For e.g. I got an infraction for both a private message (which I have no idea about what they are talking about) the specific message ... doesn't give any clue as to what is the private thing for which I'm accused off or getting infraction for? Let's say I sent something like 10 pm's to different people on different topics or some topic so which pm generated that is not known. Granted that the person/s may be offended by some pm or something & then reported that to the mods but until the user i.e. me doesn't know what the message was about or what the pm is about, its difficult to react. Atleast while giving warnings and/or infractions there needs to be some kind of link to the original message either as a quote (in case the user deleted it ) or some other way. Secondly, what is this points thing? Can somebody explain the rationale behind it? Lastly, I'm sure there might have been already suggested by people to put up a small wiki to explain ( a small FAQ) so people can always hotlink to & know what is changing. Something which is followed in almost all the forums. It could be an immutable page which only the mods can add/edit or members with some post counts. Lemme know what you guys think? My eyes are hardly awake so see you on the other side of the sleep ![]() Last edited by machadinha : Jun 5th, 2007 at 05:24. Reason: edited out specifics |

Mod note:
Your post #3 has been moved back here, as the Moderator's Name Colors changes discussed in the other thread pointed to finally have little to do with this. The infractions system was introduced here: Updated Forum Rules, which leads straight on to this site's Forum Rules. Your above posts have also been edited to remove references to specific infraction instances, which are not open to public discussion as you'll be aware. You are free to contact the moderator team in case of specific questions. Finally, the infraction system is set up so that you will receive notification as to what precise post of yours has been infracted, and you will receive a message detailing the reasons. Again, contact one of the mods if you think this is not properly working.
