IndiaMike.com In the News
Hi all,
From time to time, I come across mentions of IndiaMike in news articles, magazine editorials, or website links. I take these as great compliments to the quality content that you the members contribute, and the hard work that the moderators and forum leaders do to keep it all together. So, I'm starting this thread to notify you when I come across these recommendations. Feel free to add on to this thread, if you see similar mentions. Thanks again for making the site one of the best resources for India travel around.

An IndiaMike recommendation was made in the article India: essential information, in the UK newspaper The Guardian, on 27 October, 2006. The article was about key facts for new travelers to India.
The quote was as follows: "The India Travel Forum: Independent site run by a guy called Mike for sharing info on travel to and within India." |

A recommendation for IndiaMike.com was made in Delta Airlines' in-flight travel magazine, Sky, in their January 2009 issue. The link to the article is here: Style + Value.
"In 2001, a guy named Mike had a passion for India and wanted to share his travel experiences online; thus IndiaMike.com was born. Today it’s more than 38,000 members strong and boasts one of the largest selections of India travel images on the Web. From hotel recommendations to articles such as "How to Cross an Indian Road", the site shows that if you’re planning a trip, Mike’s your man." Last edited by nadreg : Jan 17th, 2009 at 23:29. |

Another member of India Mike told me about the Delta mag. article a few days ago - she was going to scan me a copy of it, so now your link is here, she won't need to! Good news indeed.

nadreg, on my two blogs I have an IM link and I say it's the "best India travel website in the universe" -- from my site meter I know that people go here from my blogs.

I'll probably have some more additions next time I do a thorough web search.

Here's another IndiaMike.com mention in the travel blog section of Newsweek magazine. The blog post was made on Jun 17, 2008.
Here's the excerpt: "IndiaMike: With its super-detailed coverage and sometimes overly opinionated contributors, this homage to all things Indian can be infuriating to newbies. But spend a bit of time here, and you'll be well rewarded. The site's exhaustive guides to the byzantine ways of the India's train system and its domestic airlines are incredibly useful." Hmmm... I wonder which overly-opinionated members he was talking about? |

An article titled "India Made Easy" was published in the New York Times on Mar 25th, 2007. And wouldn't you know it? IndiaMike.com is written up as a valuable resource for anyone traveling to India.
"Besides taking along the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide, check out the friendly online forum at www.indiamike.com: it effectively puts the collective wisdom of all backpackers in India at your disposal, which is even more useful than it sounds." Let's see, one minute we're friendly, and the next we're overly opinionated. Well, at the very least, we're interesting! |

I think we did a whole thread about that.
Merely expressing our opinions, of course! ![]() Well done to the whole site for the latest mentions. It's one thing to be unique, and another to be useful too! I think we score on both fronts ![]() |

In an article published in the Seattle Times on Oct 12, 2006, titled "Delhi old and new, from rickshaws to gelato shops", IndiaMike.com is recommended as "One-stop Web site for all things India, from candid reviews by travelers to information on the train system and discount airlines."
Very nice mention, highlighting the core strenghts of the community, in my opinion. |
