I wish to Help

There are somethings i need to highlight, and since i started off with a bad repo being loud about these issues. I will Ask this time, ill ask " Can i suggest few changes on this forum site ? "

I am a copy writer for a reputed Online Media Agency, we design and develop websites. So i have a fair bit of knowledge about how the language of websites should be. Who is the right person i should talk with ?

contact Nadreg.

But I guess it would be okay if you post your suggestions here, other members might also have a view on the same.

Heheh, give it your best shot. Do kindly remember you'll be far from unique in the field among the many people visiting and using and maintaining this site since many a year. It didn't grow overnight so to speak and much of its structure has been well-thought out and tested and tried, then again it will have grown partly by picking up on constructive suggestions, and like any site it will forever be under development.

Nadreg is the owner and administrator yes, so he really is the one to speak to. I think you should be able to PM him by now, or if not, you should be very soon.

You will find plenty of reflections on earlier site changes in this same Forum Help sub-forum you're posting in.

For an idea of the forum's development over the years, try also the classic Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://indiamike.com.

What I would kindly suggest is maybe check out the scene a little more, make yourself at home first, and let your suggestions naturally float up from that so to speak. Rather than barging in as a newcomer suggesting to change it all around perhaps, this can easily rub people the wrong way, as you may understand. It doesn't work that way in real life, and it doesn't in virtual life either. Moreover, people may have ready and reasonable answers to your suggestions, making them seem bossy or unresponsive however, when it's just that chances are it's all been thought about and amply discussed before, if only internally among the people maintaining the site. Very little of what you get to see of site structure and maintenance is a matter of random happenstance, most of it has been given ample thought, and then some.

It's fun, innit. Will send pangs of nostalgia through many an older member too no doubt. (It's also and in keeping with the subject here funny to see some changes that were vehemently opposed at the time, only to be considered standard now and within a week after the dust settled and no one knew any better of course. Ah, not very open to change us humans sometimes, are we )

IM NO WAY A " CONTENT GUY " I am a COPY WRITER, most people in the world outside Advertising Industry(some insiders too) have no idea about the difference between a Content Writer and a Copy Writer.

Content Writer - A generic writer, usually English hons. from DU college or something. Mostly writes about newsletters, content on websites etc etc. Has no idea about advertising conecepts and design perspective.

Copy Writer - Holding Graduate or Masters degree in Advertising or preferably Mass Communication. Has an indepth knowledge on advertising and design concepts. Writes content too as his/her English is mature enough + he knows to play around with words.

Copy Writers can do everything a content writer can do but content writer are mere writers. However some Content writers with training can be good Copy Writers.

Copy Writers = Adept Advertisers
Content Writers = Skillful Writers

psst, Artistic, I think Puchoo was sort of having you on.

Did we hint already many of us come from a writing or IT background, and many another thing? A while ago I was playing a game with an Indian guy I didn't know. He then started telling me how to play that game. Which I'd played forever.

This may be "cool" in an Indian context, I don't know. Where I live it just spells being an arrogant idiot that you don't want to deal with.

You know?

That is the point at which I innocently say "So, do people ever bet on this game then?"

Artisticanurag, I look forward to seeing your comments, I think input from new members trying to navigate the site "cold" can be very useful. If you wanted to PM Nadreg, you could either look at the member list, or check out the stickies on this forum, I'm sure he's started a few of them himself.

weareavailable.in is not working.

What advertising concepts are you expected to be familiar with on sites which are essentially corporate in nature? Unless you are referring to general ad concepts , which then might or might not work in the internet domain anyway..

Nadreg is everywhere...

These are few of my suggestions

In the Lost Password Recovery Form. If i enter a@z.com
I think i should get a message - invalid e-mail address.

Right now it shows the same error message
that one receives if he has entered a legit email address but one which is not registered with India Mike.

" You have not entered an email address that we recognize. Please try again or contact the administrator. "

-- - - - - ----------- --- -- -

and i got this mail now

'abc' has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Brutalities in Orissa - in the Orissa forum of India Travel Forum | IndiaMike.com.

This thread is located at:
http://www.indiamike.com/india/oriss...0759/new-post/

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
Mod Note: It has been decided to move this thread to Masala Chai and Chat.
