I have not had time to really study it but I did go into one that I remembered posting, and that was Gods Gift in Arambol. When I went into it, I saw "0 user reviews" which made me think that no one had made any comments whereas I remember there had been many besides mine. After your comment above, I went back to that listing, and clicked the user review and did see my comment that I left in December 07, however my comment was in addition to the previous comments from Indiamikers, which made me initially stay there, and those are gone. Plus I could not see any image at all. I also remembered that the hotel in Paharganj was listed, I think anyway, the Namaskar Hotel and do not see a listing of that. I could go back and try to retrace many but it will take alot of time and research. Just to say that I find the set up of the hotels listings not to be as user friendly as the previous layout, which allowed you to see a whole page of hotels for a given city, and then if interested, you could click and go into more detail. Is there a way you can get that layout back? And I do not understand why I am no longer seeing the images.

The God's Gift hotel was a duplicate. The images were under one listing, and your comments were under another. I have consolidated them into one, so that the reviews and the images are together:

Have you tried using the Search function on the top right? I typed in Namaskar and got the following.

thank you. I went right into the sites using your web address and saw the full comments. I then tried the advanced search and noted that it took me to a brief description without the detailed information. I think I must have stopped at this point and did not know that I was suppose to click the name of the hotel again in the short description to get detail and comments. Hopefully I now have the hang of it because i did use this information extensively and will be returning to India within the next couple of months.

We'll probably merge this into the existing thread, especially as you seem to be ok with the explanatations so far, Barbara.

I am of the opposite opinion. New version is more user friendly by a huge margin.

About double listings: Thrissur and Trichur is the same place. Thrissur is the correct Malayalam spelling:

And Kumily and Thekkady is the same location.

Yes; I had alerted Nadreg earlier to spelling issues.

These will be endless and unsolvable, I'm afraid. Even discounting any renamings, which happen a lot though.

That shouldn't keep you (Nadreg) off of anything though; it's just something to be aware of, and that should be taken along in your indexing as far as you can. And mostly in case of potential double coverings where it's really the same town indeed, and this may often not be obvious at all (think of Trivandrum - Thiruvananthapuram which at least most of us know, I could think of others that at least in transcription or with alterations bear no resemblance whatsoever).

(And then with all the possible misspellings of all those placenames in guidebooks or on the web it becomes a real right mess, but let's not even get into it. I've been thinking we should have them all in local script, but then how many of us would be able to read them -- or to adequately spell them if they were our native language even.)

The 9* review below should be deleted. It was, clearly, posted by the owner of the accommodation.

http://www.indiamike.com/india-hotels/reviews/3422/

And with reference to a the link in the previous post: Sultan Battery is in Wayanad so should be merged into Wayanad (which is a district in Kerala. Sultan Battery is a small town).

I just noticed the Hotels section won't open, it gives an error message to that effect, resulting in a blank page.

I rarely go there, so no idea if it's some temporary glitch or has been going on for longer.
