The problem remains though: You've now added Taptapani to the Orissa city options. If you were to add a hotel in any state in an unlisted city though, there's no option but to add it under another listed city.

This could easily be resolved I think by adding the option "other cities" in the drop-down box to any state. In the "add hotel" screen I mean. Unless you want to forever moderate them and keep adding those new and unsuspected city names that crop up as you go along, the possibilities of which are endless.

It just seems more logical to list the major cities in any state, then file the rest under "others," in those states. So e.g. in Orissa you'd get Bhubaneswar and Puri and so on, then more obscure places would just be listed under Orissa-Others. There's no human way you're ever gonna cover all possible placenames.

You could of course sift through those "other" destinations from time to time to distill placenames from them to add to the menu.

Anyway and more practically, there's currently just nowhere to park a hotel in a city that's not already listed, except to mis-file it.

Nadreg-
Oh hey cool. It just seemed like there was a lot more form filling out to do now. No big deal though really...
I notice some hotel info I put up recently is still absent - Peerless Inn Kolkata, Bishnupur Tourist Lodge, Mark & Meadows Shantiniketan, Mayfair Lagoon Bhubaneshwar, photos for Hello Jeypore - maybe more, I haven't given it a thorough look yet.

By the way, I think you've done a heck of a good job with the IndiaMike website.

OK. Looks like the import from the previous version of the hotels site didn't go as smoothly as I had initially expected. I redid the import now, so looks like all the hotels you listed are now there, including the pics (nice ones, by the way).

P.S. Thanks for the compliments!

As for your note, Mach, that's exactly what I'm planning on doing. Having a "No city" option for a state when filing a hotel.

the map does not have Leh marked. J&K has only one city marked - srinagar.
but leh is very popular site and quite a few hotel reviews of leh exists on Indiamike.
Can you add Leh to the map?

... However, Ladakh & Leh seem to be neatly listed under Jammu & Kashmir alright (rather few though, which has one wonder). But I guess it would make sense to highlight them on the map yes.

Have a look now. The problem was that the two cities weren't in the database, so the hotels were listed under their parent states. If you had searched for the hotels, though, you would have seen the listings.

I have created the two cities for the hotels, so they are under the correct city now.

I have also added "Other" to the list of cities for each state, so if you're entering a hotel and can't find the city, please select this one, and I will add the city at a later date.

Was thinking it could have gotten misfiled because of spelling issues, but can't find it at all though.

Nadreg, a minor point: Great you added "other cities" as an option. Since it's alphabetically listed though (under O for Other), this will be easily overlooked in the more extensive menus I think. You might want to see if you can add it to the bottom of those menus instead.

And as far as spelling goes, you'll have a hell of a time trying to keep track of all the possible variations for many placenames I guess. It's looking good so far though.

Really Disappointed with the New Hotels Listing on Indiamike

I used the old listing of hotels religiously last year. I found it very easy to manage even though some of the listings were duplicated. Now it is impossible to compare and find a hotel. Even some of the reviews that I put in last year no longer show up at all. I really enjoyed reading the personal comments of people who had used the hotels. I was more likely to stay in a hotel when an Indiamiker had reviewed and told stories about and gave specific experiences. I liked the long list of the hotels so that you could compare right away. Now you have to go thru pages and pages of hotel listings that say almost nothing. The images don't even show up for me now, whereas before I was using the same laptop and they all showed up If you ask me, the new listing of hotels is a mess and probably I will not use it much in the future. I congratulate the owner of the site for wanting to make it better, but for me, it is now almost useless.

Which hotels did you review that are not showing up anymore? Also, all the images were moved over. Are you seeing hotels without images that you saw before?
