Yes! That's right! Forgot to mention that. One of the benefits of the new server!

One way to prevent duplication of information is for the moderation to be a bit stricter.
I also frequent a very busy Indian motor site, and if we had their mods, every new malaria or visa thread would get a very quick Do not post new threads without searching for existing ones first response. And it is not a less-friendly site than this one. As a mod, I'm very pleased to see the members list just one click away. Not that we check up on people, of course. Oh no.... ![]()

Three cheers ...
Thank you very much, nadreg, for the forum, and for all the good work you are putting into it. I have been lurking regularly in it as a member for nearly three years now, visiting just a few sections --- mostly the forums related to trekking in Garhwal. It has been consistently of great help whenever I wanted information on such things. Because I don't know anything about the site as a whole, I don't have any remark to make on the recent changes, apart from the fact that I don't have any difficulty getting about in the new setup. In that sense, this posting is OT on this thread. Please excuse :-)
I don't have any experience maintaining large Web sites, but I can guess that it must be an arduous, and often unappreciated, task. Thanks again, and thanks also to the mod team. Raghu. |

Back to the complaints
![]() I thought you were enlarging the shoutbox? Just went for a shout, and it's pretty small. |

It's smallish but has a scroll bar that (I think) seems to cover about its original size Nick. Or am I getting you wrong?

I found I even had to scroll left/right, and I like to be able to read more than a shout or three without having to scroll.

Yep... I used to love the echo we used to get in that big, empty shoutbox

Bottom navbar and FAQ
The bottom navigation bar is pushed to the right of the page, unlike the top one which is centred. I think a centred bottom bar would look better, but YMMV. (The trouble seems to occur because all the items in the bottom bar are bundled into one right-aligned `TD' element, whereas each item in the top bar is in a `TD' cell of its own, and the entire top bar is aligned to the centre.)
Another thing is that the FAQ mentioned in the bottom bar is a general document about the forum software. I don't know if there is an FAQ for the content of the forum, on the lines of the FAQs of Usenet newsgroups, e.g., like the Usenet physics FAQ. If there is one such, perhaps it should be more visible. If there is none, is there any proposal regarding it? Raghu. |

An FAQ for using the site would be a very good idea!
I'm sure that many of the people who eventually find that link, want to know about IndiaMike, not vBulletin |
