I don't like the new shoutbox configuration at all. The pane is too small and I couldn't go back very far to read earlier posts (unless there's a way to do it that I haven't figured out, which is entirely possible).

Also, what's the point of repeating the Latest Forum Topics on the Community page when that's already on the Home page? It' looks like maybe they're different "latest" topics, but it's confusing.

The shoutbox might get noticed by a lot more people now, but it needs a link to go to full screen ---please?

I am missing the Latest Threads link, which used to be there on the main page. That was my most used link.

Shoutbox is not as much fun as before because the number of shouts we see is limited.

I suspect that Shoutbox will be worked on, it had struck me too.

Do you as a member have "Today's Posts" in top right corner box Prashant? It's what I use now instead of Latest Threads. Seems to fulfil its function, but maybe the other one needs to come back, I'm not sure how far back this one goes. --> Checking: It seems to cover just 24 hours indeed. Nadreg has been notified, so let's see how it develops.

I understand the 'Today's Posts' link, top right, under the Welcome Prashant.M message, does the same thing?

Agree with the shoutbox. More noticeable, but less fun.

Thanks Macha & Cap'n , that does give me the latest posts but only till the previous day. I used to use the Latest Threads link and sometimes go back three or four days.

I've increased the number of shouts shown in the box to 50. If you guys feel you need more "history" let me know. I can increase that.

The Latest Forum topics on the homepage show all the latest threads. Whereas the Latest Forum Topics on the Travel and Community pages show the latest threads from the Travel and Community forums respectively. I will change the heading to make it more clear.

To start off with, the homepage Latest Topics shows a lot of new threads, so it may seem redundant at first. However, I will be adding more content to the homepage, and will be reducing the number of threads shown on the homepage.

You can click on the Shoutbox link on the header panel, which takes you to the full screen version of the shoutbox.

Fixed. See note above.

It looks like it's a link a lot of people use. I will add it to the Quick Links drop down on the main navigation bar.

Not really, or not like before. It takes you to something of a history page. Less "alive" if you will.

It used to be you had the option to a) See the Shoutbox in full screen, and b) Go to its history/archives for the real compulsive shouters

ps, Edit: Yes, I see the box itself has grown, i.e., has a longer scroll bar. Over to the others, I don't use it all that much.

pps:

For now, I've changed it so that you can see the last 50 shouts. If that's not enough, let me know and I'll come up with another solution.

Last time I did that it took me to the archive/edit version of the shoutbox, which I don't think is for normal shouting?

I'll take another look...

The convenience of the left navigation panel (now being replaced by an advertising panel down the right side) is another case in point for the page being slightly less user-friendly. Some people( ) find it much easier to look up/down a screen rather than left/right for clicky buttons/links. For users with older systems the shoutbox is now 2 clicks away, and the user control panel is now an extra maneuver as well.

Also, it would be nice to have a feature that allows the browser to enter the "last page" of any hot thread directly from the home page (re: in 1 click only).

If you click on the last post arrow thingy that's where you're taken right? Or am I getting you wrong here?
