Everything should be OK now. The new ad system is serving the ads the same way as Google, so we should be good. That's why the banners disappeared for you, Peak.

I think it's over for me too yes (knock on wood, always). Thing is you might want to check on some machines with various set-ups if it works alright for people who don't have an ad-blocker on. I imagine web life mustn't be much fun to them anyway
But it's something you'd want to check on, seriously.(And also seriously, I think many sites that I have trouble with today have just forgotten to route their traffic through the most obvious and standardized routes or to comply with [rather modest even] current safety standards, and that many users will not allow anything but those routes. It then becomes a question of how dearly do you want to see that site to find a way around it -- usually not very much, I'll just skip them unless I really need something there. Funnily and for whatever reason and generally speaking, the more corporate or governmental the site, the more you'll run into this. You'd think they'd have some well-paid web master in place. There's some really awful work being done out there -- but let's save it for some techie site to complain about it. Another but not unrelated concern with me is it calls for those users half in the know to allow traffic they shouldn't be allowing. It's just bad practice no matter how you look at it, and what I don't understand is those geeks should be the first to be aware of this.)

More database errors and freezing/locking while attempting to post in Puchoo's thread on photo access - it works now but have appeared to double entered the post.

Hi all...
I saw this thread earlier but was tied up. I personally didn't have any issues with the site. Can you guys do me a BIG favor and cut-and-paste the error message when you see it next? Thanks |

Will post any database erors if I run into them again, Nadreg.
btw That Ixigo banner: Of late it was OK for me. However I've been noticing for the past day or so it causes a slight lag with me on any thread it appears on (I think it still gets inserted at random?) It's really no issue at my end but I imagine it might be for people on slower connections (i.e., much of India as far as I know, for example. And even in many other places people will be on dial-up or just slow connections or so.) I've noticed now it wants to set a cookie for that im.ixigo. Which I don't allow and shouldn't really cause a lag if you don't, but it conceivably might I guess, just because your machine is busy handling it. I've also noticed this is what causes my machine to try and establish a connection to there, so yes this will take up some time, although it should be minimal. It's been a long time since I was on a slower connection though, I don't know what the effects might be. The fact that I don't allow it might also explain why the banner doesn't work for me when I try to use it btw. |
