Very strange. I was on the site at the same time, and I didn't have any of these errors.

Do database errors present themselves omnipresently to all users .... or can the problem be user specific and intermittent to the service/routing one is connected to/through?

<cross-posted. The error messages I got were just a general database error message Nadreg; then when the site goes back up, those error messages Puchoo and I reported earlier are on the frontpage, replacing the article links there. Shortly after that, all is fine again.>
Or were you reading, not browsing at the time? It doesn't last very long I think & is hence really a minor issue; it's just funnny it's always around the same time. It typically starts with the server being slow to respond at times in the half hour or so before it, then stalling altogether for a short while. Maybe the admin takes special preference ![]()

Well, what's really strange is that I don't see any errors in the logs. I've invoked a High Power, though, i.e. the system admins. Let's see if They can find something I can't.

Cron jobs and table corruptions, two things you need to look at. My guess is, it is a backup cron job that is causing high loads. Login through putty and keep watching top output

The error message i posted , if i have not added this already, appears randomly..a simple refreshing of the page and the site loads fine.

Yeah... Kick the system in the crontab.
That should wake it up a bit! ![]() In the old days when purveyors of commercial operating systems were allowed to have senses of humour, instead of just marketing jerks, Unix used to come with 'fortune' set up to give a saying or joke when one logged in. Some were a bit naughty. To my shame, on a dull morning, I fell for $ try stty 0 --- it works better $ ![]() Perhaps Yogesh and three other members might understand that ![]() (it's all your fault, Capt ) |

Between aprox. 12:00pm & 12:30pm eastern time each day the website will not open - it slows and then stops loading without the homepage appearing. Thought it was my system but can access all other websites so the problem must be orignating with IM. Whether this generates a DB error is unknown because the screen ends up blank and you must exit it to your IE homepage.

OK... I've turned full logging on the system. Hopefully it happens soon so that I can catch it, before the disks fill up!
