Logging in prompt repeats
I've had the logging in screen presented to me repeatedly, even though I'm logged in, leading to an inability in posting replies.
It happened here: Salad suggestions please... Anyone else facing this problem? I did manage to complete my reply though, after a coupla attempts. |

Disclaimer: Not a techie. Don't blame me if the whole thing blows up ![]() Also, this leaves cookies or crackers or something in your pc, apparently. |

It's still a bug if it doesn't work without 'remember me'.
--- although, now I come to think of it, I think there is some sort of time-out on the login. I also could be totally wrong about this!

Probably. I've had problems without the 'remember me' in the past.

If you are working from your own PC in your own home then Remember me does avoid that.

"Remember me" (it's right by the log-in box) does set a cookie (that's how it remembers you
), until you log out again, which clears up the cookie. This should technically save you from getting involuntarily logged off all the time. You may need to go through the extra step of setting your browser to allow cookies for this site at all though. Or it obviously won't work; I suppose this could be a problem on public machines that block it by default. To copy your posts (simply to your clip board, you can then paste it into a text editor in case of screw-ups) before submitting isn't a bad idea anyway & can save you some frustration in case you just wrote down your life story, only to find it *poof* gone. (Thinking: I believe many web cafes don't allow to right-click and copy even. If so, highlight your text and use Ctrl-c (for copy) then Ctrl-v (for paste) instead.) (It's possible this cookie thing doesn't work well on all set-ups of course. Some sites, but not this one (typically webmail or other secured -- or simply badly-designed, cough -- sites), work best or only for me if I add them to my "trusted sites/zones" section, this should likewise be somewhere in your browser settings. This will give them maximum permissions & override any blockades and stuff you have running. You obviously only want to do this with sites that you, er, both really need and trust (to not feed you any weird stuff nor sell on your soul to the devil and so on), I wouldn't hesitate to do it here, but always handle this method with caution. I would certainly not use this for your favorite porn or gaming sites, but browse on rather to one that does work without any silly demands on your system.)

The system never times out on me. I've left answers half-written for ages, they will still post when I get back. Doing a CTRL-A (select all) CTRL-C (copy to clipboard) is a safety measure to preserve your text if posting does fail. I do find Quick Reply just hangs sometimes. |
