I just want to double check, is there any place on IM where we can post jobs and offer student internships?

Probably not, really.

We've tried having "classified" forums, and they just get invaded by agencies and professionals, or people joining to make one post. Then it was tried again, just for accommodation; although this worked quite well for this city, I understand that agents invaded other parts of the forum, so that was closed down too.

Bear in mind that, due to the, errr, very mixed bag which constitutes the charity/NGO sector in India, such organisations are considered commercial by site policy, which pretty much rules out posting on their behalf.

So, I think the answer is no

But, hey... sometimes I forget I'm not a moderator any longer, and if they have anything different to say, I'm sure one will be along

It would be sweet if there were a sticky thread in the expat forum with links to sites with jobs in india

Thanks Nick!

I suspected so much and do not want to have my knockles rapped again but got confused with the classified section being there .

I understand that moderating this site must be a huge task and I can understand that they do not want to complicate matters further.

It is a shame though because one could imagine that it may be of interest to lots of members. In this respect I think Goo has made a good suggestion. Perhaps the mods can consider this?

Hi birds,

As things stand, there is no possibility of advertising jobs or internships on IndiaMike. We no longer have a "classified section" and as Nick rightly said the accommodation/flat sharing threads were recently abolished. If you would like to make suggestions about changing the rules then the usual procedure is via the "Contact Us" button on the red bar at the foot of the page.

There are a couple of big recruitment sites, and they do get their names mentioned quite regularly when people are talking about looking for work here. Having a scatter brain, and never having needed them yet, I don't recall the names. naukri.com? (Google says, yes!)

Thanks for the clarification, I will consider it.

Thanks for the suggestions Nick. I am aware of these recruitment sites and tried them out too. The problem with them is that they are way too big. If you advertise on those you get 1000 applications, many of which are send out automatically based upon any word you mention in the ad. Totally useless .

We tried also local newspapers in India as well as abroad but again you reach too wide an audience. If you are looking for people with a genuine interest in working in India just for the experience of being in India there are few options. What to do

Now that Birds has had her query answered fully, this thread has served its purpose. I am closing it.
