Can't access Indiamike!!!!
Hi,
I've had a pretty strange prob for abt a week or so. Just cant access Indiamike from my comp. Initially I asssumed the server was down but then when I received an email abt new PMs I realized that wasnt the case. I then tried pinging IM ip & that worked fine - avg response time of abt 500ms, pretty much the same for google.com with the slow Tata Indicom wll dialup!! I tried accessing IM thru a web proxy & it worked just fine - Im using IM thru a proxy even now & its a pain coz it takes a century to load!!. I realized it was some kinda DNS prob with my ISP & called them up - one idiot landed up at my place & said that the prob was with IM server & he cldnt do anything abt it!! I showed him the site opened fine thru a proxy but that didnt help either! coz he had no idea what a proxy or DNS is so off he went. Im still stuck with the same prob despite calling up my isp a zillion times! If anyone else is facing similar probs with a tata indicom connection plz lemme know - or if someone has a solution to this prob I'd great appreciate it! p.s people who've PMed me please wait till i get this thing sorted out! |

get rid of tataindicom internet connection first. btw, are you checking billing details too. sometimes even if you dont use for months , the usage charges may appear in the bill!!!

Maybe they have blocked IM because of all the subversive threads we have been having lately

sabby, if you can ping indiamike.com, then it is not a dns problem (even ping needs to resolve the ip first)
Have you tried if it works with a different browser? |

DNS... if you can ping IM, then it is not a DNS problem. If the ip address comes up reasonably quickly, it is OK.
Out of interest, what speed is your Tata connection supposed to be? I only get ping speeds of 300+ to IM and other outside India sites. My connection is 256. BSNL (my suppliers) have a serious bottleneck connecting to the outside world. ![]() "Broadband" connectivity in India is crap. BSNL (government) is giving it out in tiny portions (256 is broadband? Fraudband (as a contributor to another forum put it) more like ) and anything that might count as broadband is expensive. Compared to the rest of the world it is very bad.But my rant isn't solving your problem. I do have the experience that IndiaMike response slows to the point of being effectively dead. But it never last longer than an hour or two. Do other members in India have this experience? A good forum for broadband/comms in india issues: www.vinuthomas.com Mod note: moving this thread to the forum help section...
