I am getting closer to finishing the upgrade (which was a pain as you know) but was necessary to fix some problems on the site.
If you find any bad links, broken images, or a link that leads to nowhere I would greatly appreciate it if you can use this thread to report them so I can weed them out. Also if you noticed something that I missed please let me know. Still a few more things to do (known problems) ---my bookmarks not showing up in threads under user name ---weather needs to be fixed (being replaced by new) ---journal blog area is being replaced by new one ---hotels listings to move moved over to new area ---some small work on downloads, travel articles, links need to be completed ---personal menu not working yet Odds are good that I missed a bunch of stuff, since it's hard to cram every change that I have done of a year and a half into one week. Cheers Mike |

Hi Mike,
appreciate the efforts, and nothing to report as don't much get beyond the front page due to slow, crappy service here -- but will pass on a comment/suggestion here, rather than starting a new thread. Since forum traffic has increased so much lately, good topics are falling off the front page and winding up in virtual oblivion. Do you think it might be desirable to increase the topics on the front page to, say 25, so that more would be easily available to us too lazy, or who have to rely on slow connections, to more easily keep up to date? I've been hitting 'last 50 threads' lately so don't have to plumb the warrens of the full forum -- maybe some others over here in India are having the same problem. cheers, mike |

Here is an example of what it looks like, Mike's Journal Entry. The fake listing I made up is from a few years ago from one of the first web pages I ever did. On a side note...I must say the work is paying off and the site is running so much faster now and consuming almost half the bandwidth that it did before. Mike |

Following up on this, I have decided to not update to the new journal system and just to keep the one we have now.
A few reasons...one because it's way to much work for me to move the postings from one journal to another. It took 90 minutes just to move one persons, and I don't have that much time to spare. Unfortunately it's not a simple copy and paste affair. Second reason...I am "flogging a dead horse" with the journal thing here since only a couple of people use it and I need to move ahead with other areas. Also the Public Blog/Journal area on the forum is something I consider a dead area and that section with be closing. I will find a home for the threads there. The weather that was on the front page before will just stay as a link now. Msnbc will be discontinuing that service and it will just be a side page until it gets totally faded out. There may be a different company that I work with but that's wait and see. Also with the Hotels section, I also will not be moving the older threads from the forum into the new listings. Again the work involved is way to much and I encourage members to submit new listings there and I will be doing a bigger push on that area very soon. Anyway that's the news on the update so far.
