A request/suggestion to Admin re:Photo gallery
Hello Admin,
Every time I view the photo gallery on a standard 15" widescreen laptop, typically only half the photo is visible on screen. Which means I have to scroll every time I load a new photo, which is painful on a laptop (I suspect even on a desktop). In addition, upper 40% screen is usually blank. So, is it possible to utilize that part of screen such that complete photo appears on your screen when you are browsing a photo gallery? Thanks. |

Sorry... missed this post. Yes, it is possible. There is a site redesign coming in the future, which is meant to better utilize the space on the pages.

There is a lot of unnecessary stuff on the photo home page too. I don't think we need 'most popular' (which doesn't work; its been unchanged for months) and 'random'. More space for 'recent' would be better.

Otherwise, there is never likely to be much change as people will click on the most popular photos just to have a look.

Ah right, so it is self-perpetuating, and those kids are always going to be on top of the heap.

Another feature that would be great is to be notified if a comment is left on any of your photos, so that you could post a reply or thanks if you wish.

The 'random photos' & 'random photo' generator are a great feature and a walk down a completely different India memory lane with each mouse click. I did not know the 'most popular' photos even existed until I read this thread with due apologies to the photographers I just scolled by them for some reason without getting the gist of their significance.

While we're all at this, I would also request a feature whereby people posting photos are required to state the local location. Right now it's just an option which many (most?) people ignore. Can't tell how many times I've admired a photo on IM while having no idea where it was taken.

I think Nadreg added a 'location this photo was taken' field that had to be completed, but I don't know if it was succesful. And STOP people adding the link to a website in their photos or in the following comments. |

Having those fields mandatory won't guarantee anything, but it's likely to help.
