My husband and I are in the process of getting his US citizenship. He is now a permanent resident of the United States (I'm American) and we are going to India in November. Does he need a visa when we go? I tried finding info but I have limited time and have no idea what to look for. Anyone have any idea????

Which passport does he carry? GC or no GC doesnt matter. If a non-Indian passport, most probably he will need a visa, there are very few countries that have a visa waiver program with India.

If he has an valid Indian passport of course he wont need a visa. But be careful if he is in the final stages of the GC process ("adjustment of status"), in which case he will need a authorization from the INS to travel outside the country (its called advanced parole).

Net net, if he has a Indian passport and a physical "green card" then no problema at all!

If he is an Indian passport holder, he doesn't need a visa, regardless of the GC.

thank you!!! It makes sense now. He has an Indian passport still but it has a stamp in there that says he can travel outside of the US.
