I should start by saying I know the visa is valid from date of issue not departure.

Question is what issue date do they put on it?

Is it A) the date of online application
or B) date processed by consular staff (say a week or so after the online application as being posted)

I asked this question to the VFS email but they didn't read the question, just pasted the standard "date of issue not date of departure" response. So I am hoping someone who has applied can tell me.

I applied online this weekend for a two month tourist visa, two months and two days before my return flight date, believing the issue date could not happen before I posted it in, but have since been worrying that they might backdate it to the date I applied online, in which case it would expire two days before I come home.

Would really appreciate it if anyone can clarify?

Thanks

I've applied for visas in London twice in the last year & it seems the date of issue is the date they process it. Last time I applied online on December 4, took my passport in to VSF office on December 8 & picked it up on December 10, the date of issue was December 9. If you have posted in your passport then I think you will be ok as it will take at least a couple of days for them to receive/process it. Fingers crossed for you!

I would like to apply for employment visa. I have 2 month resignation period at my current workplace. Is it possible to have the issue date 2-3 month after I applied for visa? Until I haven't got my E visa in my hands I don't want to quit my current job since it is very risky. If the issue date is the day they process it then I loose 2 month of my visa besides I have to explain the situation somehow to the immigration office which is difficult I guess.

Thanks for any help

I don't think that turning up in India two months after the issue date will require any explanation at all.

I don't think you will get a visa post dated.
