this might be a bit too specific a question, but i thought i would try here first, before coughing up 95p a minute on the visa call centre help line.

my applications are processed and waiting for me at hayes woo hooo

the opening times for collection from the centre is clearly specified as 13:00 to 16:30 monday to friday.

however.... monday coming (when i am free to collect), is a bank holiday i the UK. i've had a look at the holiday section of VFS website, and they only list indian public holidays as days that they are closed.

does anyone know, if britsh public hoidays affect the visa centres? or will they be open?

cheers,

I have just this minute returned from Hayes having collected my wife's 1 year visa ( will apply for mine next month). The staff at VFS specifically stated that the office would be open on Bank Holiday Monday as it is not an Indian holiday..........so go for it!

I wonder why the staff put up with iy - aren't Public Holidays a statutory right?

They seemed pretty "smiley" about it, Andy.

Isn't that weird. They close in Australia on all holidays, including the local ones.
VFS seem to be world wide now.

Until now I had always thought they closed for both lots here too. It was only because I asked, as my visa was due back on Friday or Monday that they said, and I did get the idea it might be a new thing?

No public holidays are not a statutory right, and presumably the staff "put up with it" because they get a whole lot of Indian public holidays off - which add up to far more days off than "ordinary" UK employees get!

Just like to confirm that the Visa centre was open on bank holiday monday.

and it was completely empty, so i wa sin and out in 1 minute. i said to the nice guy who gave me my visas that i was suprised that the centre wasnt full, what with everyone being off work, but he said he thinks everyone expected them to be closed.

cheers for the tip jonny5
