Hello,

I got a tourist visa and it will expire in 20 days.
The questions are:
1-How to extend tourist Visa without leave India?
2- If I can not,how to get another 6 months Visa from Nepal or Bangladesh?
3- What is the problem if I stay 1 week with my expired visa?

thanks

Questions like yours have been discussed many times already. You should used the "Search" function to find relevant discussions.

You cannot "extend" a tourist visa while in India, except in the case of a genuine emergency like illness or injury that would prevent travel and even then the process is not easy and the extension is only very brief. Just wanting to stay longer will not qualify for this kind of emergency extension

Once you leave India at the expiration of your current visa, you will be required to stay out of the country for at least two months. In Nepal, and I believe in Bangladesh as well, you will not even be allowed to apply for a new visa until one month after the expiration of your current one. If you do eventually get issued another tourist visa from one of these places, it is likely to be for no more than three months, not six.

If you overstay your visa, you will be detained at the airport and not allowed to board your flight, you will be required to jump through many bureaucratic hoops before you can leave (which means you will have to pay for another ticket) and may even be jailed for a time. You may also be fined, and you may be denied future Indian visas.

Again, read the many, many discussions here concerning this issue. And be sure to read the most recent posts - since December 2009 - not the older ones, because the rules have recently changed significantly.

Forum Advisor Note: These three questions are asked so frequently, I am adding the other two questions to the thread title and making this into a sticky thread.

Why not close the thread too?

Question asked; answer given. All the ifs and buts that always follow on only muddy the issue. Or waters... Or something...
