Good experience with Munich Cox & Kings

Hi all
I applied for a one year tourist visa in April 2011. I applied in the morning and was able to pick it up the same day in the afternoon. Important: You have to pay in cash. I got 1 year tourist visa, but after 180 days the 2 month gap is required.

As I heard, now application is only online possible. Didn't try that so far...the Cox & Kings homepages still says something about a counter service...

I had very bad experience with the embassy in Munich, hanging up the telephone etc...thank God they outsourced it now!!!

According to the website they still have a counter service (you have to bring your printed online-application), but now they say they need 72 hours processing time (holidays excluded). That means you can't go in the morning and pick it up in the evening any more

When I try to open the online application website Firefox tells me that their security certificate is not valid..

my friend from germany got Indian visa this August in Munich. She said since June they process only online applications and it takes three weeks, price gone up to 70 Euro.

However if you're short on time it's possible to go yourself to service point and bring printed online application and it takes a week to get visa.

Does that cox and kings tracking system work?
Or did they lose my passport already?

Handed my application over the counter in munich last week tuesday, 4.Oct., but today it still says:
"no records found"

Did anybody ever get a notice on this tracking site? And when?

If you've handed your passport over the counter it's unlikely that it's lost. I guess the tracking system is not working properly. According to their rules your visa should be ready (72 hours). Or did you ask to send your passport back to you? Then they say processing time is 2 weeks.... No personal experience with them so far, though.

They have telephone hours: 8:30 - 12:30

Telephone No. 089 - 232 315 90

This seems to be a recurring (or constant?) problem...

I applied for my visa in Berlin just over a year ago (September 2010)... I had the same "No records found" issue with the tracking system... I called Cox & Kings a couple of times and didn't get any helpful answer...

Finally after almost 2 weeks I decided to just go down to the physical location to get a real answer, and sure enough everything was already ready... For some reason whoever I was getting on the phone couldn't tell me this; it had probably been ready for days... personally, I had a much smoother time applying for my India visa at the embassy the previous year before they outsourced it to Cox & Kings; everything seemed very disorganized with this office... if you don't hear back from them soon, and don't get any info when you call, try just going down there and asking someone to track down your application...

There is a fast-track way in Munich that takes 72 hours and costs 63 Euro.

It's not really "fast track" any more, as you have to go to Munich twice now. Before you could get it on the same day

The same-day visa in Switzerland costs 180 francs (at present 145 Euros). Perhaps they do not dare to ask that much in Germany for the same service. Too shy to be that shameless, who knows?

Everythings fine..!
As the visa should have been ready after 3 working days, i went a week after applying, and yes! it was waiting for me.

Tried to phone them bevor i went, because it´s a 120 km drive for me, but i didn´t get somebody to talk to, only waiting... and after 2 min. they say: `thankyou for calling, goodbye` .
i went there anyway.

And now it´s good, i´m really happy now!
2.nov. i got my flight. Halleluja

Planning to make apply at the counter in Munich and have passport returned by post

Hi All,

This is my first post. What a great resource this site is!

I am from the UK and live in Baden-Württemberg. I am going to Kerala in December and am about to do the Cox and Kings counter application as I need my passport between now and my trip.

I contacted them and they gave me some hints:

"You can apply by us at the counter with the Online form. There is no express visa service. You should also submit a residence proof from the last 1 year. From 08:30 - 14:30 you can submit your application. If you submit a return envelope stamped with 3,50 Euro, we will send back your passport by post."

As I do not have the time to get down to Munich twice, I plan to do the "at the counter" application but give them a self-addressed envelope to post it back - has anyone done this? How fast was it?

What I am planning to take is:
- Visa fee in cash (~€65)
- 2 passport photos
- Non-German nationality form (found on the Cox and Kings additional forms page)
- Completed, printed, signed online visa application form
- Recent Meledebestätigung from the Bürgeramt to prove my address and that I have been in Germany for some years
- My passport
- Self-addressed envelope

I am just wondering if anyone can think of other documents that I may need, if there is anything else I should be aware of doing this, and how long

Thanks for any help - I'll post any problems or observations I have once I've been there and got my passport/visa back!

Thanks for any help/tips!
