Hi All,
I travelled to India(hyderabad) 2 months back with my Baby (15 months old)
and lost my passport as well as my baby`s passport and PIOcard.
My daughter was bornin U.S and she had U.S passport and PIO
1.I had 2 passports (expired+currently active) which has a valid visa
2.My daughter had U.S passport+PIO

Can you please suggest me how to proceed further in order to get my passport as well as my daughter's passport and PIO.
While appliying for new indian passport do i neeed to give my old passport number(i,e expired passport)also. If i get my new passport
1. will it have the same number as the old passport.
2. Will it hold the valid visa and stamped dates?
3. I lost my passport(which has 2 passports attached(active+expired)will i be issued with 2 passports or only one ?

How to proceed further to get my Daughter`s U.S passport

1.Do i need to go to U.S embassy by taking the appointment ?
2.How to apply the PIO ?

Thanks,
Sailu

I do feel sad for you and the situation you are in.

First and foremost, go to the nearest police station along with copies of your passport (if you have any, take a lot more copies and keep it safe.) File an FIR with the police giving the details of the passport(s) and get a copy of the FIR from the police.

Next, you'd have to apply for a new passport yourself, using the appropriate forms. Use the link below for more details:

http://passport.gov.in/

For your child, you would have to go thru the same process. Use the url below as a guide:

http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/passportreplace.html

As for your questions:
1. You will NOT have the same number on the new passport that would be issued to you/your child.
2. It will NOT have a valid visa and stamped dates. (Visa is affixed by a foreign country, MHA has nothing to do with that).
3. You will be issued only one. It would be as if a new passport has been issued to you and you can forget about the other two.

Regarding your daughter,

1. Use the link for US Consulate above
2. Follow this thread regarding lost PIO.
Can I get lost PIO card replaced in India?

I hope you would be able to sort the matter soon.

I hope you had photocopies of your passports ?

You will not get the same passport number. Your visa to US, you'll have to re-apply. Do not know the details. Go to the website of the nearest US consulate for information on the US passport.

No, the US will not issue her a new SSN. That doesn't change, even with lost ID.

Here are the details for lost US passport from http://hyderabad.usconsulate.gov/lost_passport.html
Follow the instructions for replacement card.

Who was the person who filled and signed for the PIO Application for your daughter ? Ask the same person to retrieve the details and photocopies which will be useful in replacing the PIO card.
