According to the employees of the visaservice, you'd need to book upfront, but I forgot to ask what to do when you don't have a return date.
I'll give them a call on monday to verify that.

Because the existing Netherlands Indian Visa thread is not that old, I have merged this newer thread into it.

Along with Nick's suggestion to keep it mainly to information and not discussions about the thread, I have deleted some posts from the 'newer' section of this sticky. I have also retained the Dutch language information because we have an English translation directly below it.

Indian visas are always valid from the date of issue, not from the date of travel.

It is disappointing if this is the case, but if they now are issuing visas valid for only (eg) 41 days, I can only assume that this is imposed as a maximum trip length, rather than the usual 180 days.

From reading the latest posts here so far, and having added it all up, I think what's being presented is you (or the Dutch at least -- I'd expect it to kick in elsewhere in at least Europe too though) are still allowed your 180 days of travel; however the visa issued will be geared to your precise dates of travel, and will be single-entry only. (I would assume, or should hope at least, the "valid-from-date-of-issue" stipulation would then be dropped for these particular visas. It would make no sense in this story if it were adhered to anyway. And/or if anything it might be timed to coincide with your actual departure date from your home country.)

That would seem to be in accord with the Indian authorities reportedly clamping down on the visa run. And with what we've been hearing about some European measures (or Indian measures regarding travelers from there, rather) to be taken for some time now. (It would pretty much suck to have to present them with precise travel dates though, and so a booked and fixed ticket, which we never had to, but, those would be the breaks then I guess. It would especially suck too of course because if your visa were to be denied for some reason, you'll be stuck with an unusable ticket, with no recourse to a refund on those grounds. And while the visa may not be cheap, it's still a lot cheaper than any ticket. Also, going on an open-ended return date was always a welcome luxury. But again, if it is so, what are you gonna do.)

I don't know, I should hope to find out more about it over the coming time. I do meanwhile trust Zoeperman did more than a little looking into it himself; also from some things he told me in private.

Hey all,

I'm just applying for my holiday visa in the next couple of days.

I have one question, the telex form....where is it?

I downloaded the tourist application form, so I have a "visa application form with 2 pages", and a "Begeleidingsformulier visumaanvraag" form to fill in...

Is one of these the telex forms? I have searched all over their site and can't find any telex form...I emailed them and asked where is it..and they said..."on the site" which wasn't spectacularly helpful.

Doh!...just found it, thanks anyway, they only show it in Dutch, if you choose Engels, you don't get the link to the telex form.

Matthew, well done for finding it!

It would be a great help to IndiaMike members who aren't confident about navigating the Dutch version of the site if you could post the link to the telex form on here.

Well I just got my passport with visa back after using Visum in the Hague. It went fine. I was informed I would get a visa that covered just the time of my holiday, but they gave me a 3 month double entry visa...not that I will need it.

It took 8 working days to get it there and back, and cost 102 euros.

Last hurdle over...woohoo...only packing left to do.

Check the existing recent thread for details of Indian visas in the Netherlands.

I don't know the actual processing times there, but if you are not resident in the Netherlands it is highly unlikely that your application would be processed in time. This is because all non residents of the country where they apply have enquiries made of their country of residence which can take one to two weeks.

I would either phone them or go there in person and plead your case, you may be lucky. It took me 8 working days, but there was 4 days in the post.

I'm traveling on a British passport.

I went there and asked them; they said they would try their best but there were no promises!

Will keep you posted!

Thanks,

You may want to if it's possible to change your flights, and how much it would be.

Hope it works out for you!
