my girlfriend who is dutch and unemployed at the moment called the embassy in the hague and they told her she has to have minimum of 500 euro in her bank account before a tourist visum is authorized ( i guess this would also apply to housewifes or students mentioned in this thread)

we supplied a copy of her bank statement along with the other documents required and her visa was accepted no problems.

gosh... just remember now i still had to reply to this! ...begging your forgiveness mr.Mach!!

am not sure of it now, but without making it too much 'official', if any of you is around town during the weekend.. maybe that could be something.. few hours somewhere in the afternoon could be an option... just giving virtual ink to my first thoughts on it...

btw - still didn't hear anything from the visum bureau.. so can't update yet on that.. but keeping a positive attitude about it..

oh.. thanks Nick!

Okidoki (and no problem, Larki, I'm sure you have more on your mind ), I can drop Indo a line (he's been fairly busy I think), then just drop a line here or PM me when you're sure, and we can announce on Meets thread. (Or not, if you prefer to keep it quiet. It normally doesn't cause exactly a stampede anyway. Maybe his Italian friend wants to come, would be nice.) I guess Sunday would be best for me.

What have we today, ah, Wednesday. Maybe finalize by tomorrow or so? Well, see what suits you.

Fingers still crossed on the visa then!

Oh and ps thanks for input, Max (and welcome to IndiaMike ), it's always good to know these things.

hey Mach - now as now am not sure yet if i can find some time on sunday afternoon, have had some last moment complications (of course - prior an upcoming journey.. how nice and exciting..) my laptop crashed on me few days ago and now just got it back and trying to make some new back ups etc.. before he says good bye .. maybe again... So i will stay in touch tomorrow for updates...

BUT more important! i start feeling a bit nervous now for my visa as in ---> yesterday i called the Visa Bureau in Amsterdam that didn't know yet the results of my application, so they gave me the number of their office in Den Haag, saying that maybe they knew more. Ok, i called them, they said the visa should be probably ready today and that they would have called me for update during the day. And just now, in between all things done today, am realizing they didn't call! and of course their offices are closed now...

Will try to call tomorrow morning but don't think they're open, which means i'll have to wait till monday - first thing in the morning gotta call'em cause i'm due to leave on WEDNESDAY!!! YES - i start caressing the "Panic Button"...

..i just don't wanna think at the idea to postpone the departure date for this silly visa.. waste of time.. and more cash that goes bye bye! ---> girl.. keep it together!!

and the answer is....

YES!!! ...

after this little happy dance above, i'm delighted to announce i just got my visa!
..also thinking St.Visum must love me somehow.. cause i even got the so much hoped for '6 months' one!

the other thing that changed since last year, it's that instead of costing 60,- euros, i paid 95,- euros for it (!!!), as the thirty euros extra go to the 'telex to original embassy' service that wasn't necessary last time....

while chatting with the guy at the visa office, he kind of admitted that sometimes you might never know with these visas... (and added that if i'll apply for a new one next year.. i might get three months...)

in any case - les jeux sont faits - and i'm a happy holder of a brand new 6 months visa for India... me is loving it!

Thumbs up

Congrats, Larkilli!

It's true yes it will cost you extra if it needs to be sent somewhere; or if you need it in a hurry. I also found those people at the Dutch visa service are most accessible yes, you can just ask them about things.

Anyway, happily on your way you go then! Let's do that meet after you return, right (I also hear it through the grapevine some IM meta-gurus may be hitting town soon... well, not that Larki wil be around to meet them).

Exclamation New visa rules in Holland

I've written this in Dutch and have put the translation in a reply. to keep things clear, since this applies mainly to the Dutch. if there is a problem with the Dutch section in this post, please feel free to edit the post

September 13th a lot will change for the touristvisa applications in Holland.
It is no longer possible to get your touristvisa at the Indian Embassy.

The handling of the touristvisa applications is outsourced to the folling organisations: Indian Visa Service and Visumdienst India.

At the bottom of this post you will find the addresess.

What is changed?
The 3 months (90 days) and 6 months (180 days) Multiple entry tourist visa are no longer available.
Instead of this, all applications will be changed into a single entry visa for the duration of your trip.
For the application are now also job details needed.
When you don't have a job, you will need a recent bankreceipt with atleast € 500,00 in the account to prove that you are financially independent.

What do I need to bring along when applying for a visa?
- Valid passport (valid until atleast 6 months after your return)
- 2 photo's (Same regulations count as for a Dutch passport or drivers licence)
- Completely filled requestform (Also available at the visa service office)
- € 65,00 per visa. On top of the € 50,00 visum charge, there is now also a € 15,00 servicefee).
- Planetickets (with "prove" that you will leave the country again)

So to address the post in question then,

None of it strikes me as very new, and as addressed already on the thread I pointed to, so again http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...rlands-t53325/ .

What would be very new would be

Zoeperman, can you be sure of this? You told me in private you'll be going for just a month, could it be in fact you told them this and hence ended up with this type of visa?

It would, incidentally, fit in with what we've been hearing for a few years now about plans for Indian visas to be given in a number of European as well as other countries, so I'm not at all saying it would be out of the question.

It's just the first time I hear of it actually happening in The Netherlands, and have not heard any indication of it so far.

I think I'll be looking into it over the coming time, but always in my own good time; and since I plan to go again this winter and for longer than a month, I'll certainly have to anyway.

... btw Rereading all the above now, I somehow read it to mean you said visas would now be restricted to a month.

I seem to have made that up though, and now read it to mean you said multiple-entry visas will no longer be issued.

I don't know about that either (will ask about it in due time), but again, it could well fit in with the Indian authorities reportedly clamping down on the so-called "visa run," yes.

(One might arguably wonder, and I have indeed often wondered, to what extent boards such as these freely discussing it and all the "noble" causes we may have for doing so may not have helped to inspire them to in fact clamp down on it.)

I understand your doubts about it, but I went yesterday to apply for a six month tourist visa and this was the information provided to me by both the Indian embassy and the tourist visa service to who the service is outsourced.
I was lucky enough to still be under the "old rules".

To clear things: You will receive a single entry visa for the duration of your trip.
So if you have a trip planned for say 41 days, you'll get a single entry visa for 41 days.

But please do verify and let's pray that I was wrongly informed!

Does that mean one has to book flights before getting the visa? Or just that one should add a few days for safety?
