Go back into the site using the Temporary Id from your first attempt.
You can pay when you go there, you will need the correct-sized photos, but uploading them seems to be unneccessary

Thanks Andy but doesn't recognise the temporary Id either.. thinking I might just start again.. got a pal who says that's what she did so might just try that.. the site went down when I tried to save it the other day but I guess I've not done that much communicating with India previously! Having never been before.

If it doesn't recognize the Id then you should be able to start again - otherwise it will recognize your passport number + surname and show your previous attempt.

Do you need a different type of Visa than a tourist visa? If so what type?

Hope it all goes well think I can get passport photo's there!? Do they need to just be signed?

please let me know soon as so that I can cancel my appointment if it is no longer appropriate..

Welcome to IndiaMike , Henry-35!

You are not permitted to do voluntary work on a Tourist 'T' Visa:
Quote:
TOURIST VISA - OVERVIEW

Who Can Apply?

A tourist visa can only be granted to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, etc. No other activity is permissible on a tourist visa ...

If you are an under-graduate/recent graduate, then you may be eligible for an Intern 'I' Visa:
Quote:
INTERN VISA - OVERVIEW

An Intern Visa is granted to applicants travelling to India to pursue internship in Indian Companies, Educational Institutes or NGOs/Charities. Applicants will be requested to provide documentations from the concerned institutions. Please see the ‘Documents Required’ section for more details ...

Otherwise, you would have to apply (with supporting documents) for an Employment 'E' Visa:
Quote:
EMPLOYMENT VISA - OVERVIEW

...

An Employment Visa is granted to those who are an employee of an Indian company / or those who intend to do honorary work (without salary) with Registered NGOs in India ...
Good luck!

Indian tourist visa (not e-visa) at Bristol

Hello,

I'm getting ready for a return to India in the new year, and this will be my first time using an in-person appointment with VFS to make the application. I was hoping someone might be able to share any recent experiences about this, preferably dealing with the Bristol office.

How long was the wait to get an appointment after making the online application? Could I do the application, and if the appointments offered were too soon, just wait and revisit the site at a later date to get a more suitable appointment?

I've realised that the Bristol office is not somewhere you can collect from. I know the website says regular cases take 3 - 5 working days once submitted to be returned, and I'll then need to wait for the return by post.

From Mannanan's recent posts it seems the 3 - 5 working days is accurate.

For context, I'm trying to engineer it so the visa is issued mid December.

Cheers,

Jake
