Hey guys,

I had applied for the Spanish Visa on 29th of March in the BLS visa center in Chennai. They ship the documents to the consulate in Mumbai.

After nearly a month, The status is still "Processing".

I'm to leave India on the 27th of April. I called up the outsourcing agency, BLS and the consulate. Both were apathetic about the problem with their canned responses.

If the Visa decision is not taken by the coming monday 24th April, everything would be in disarray. The courier will take around 2-3 days.

I can't cancel the flight tickets in case of a refusal if it's too late. If approved, I miss the flight.

They are almost holding me hostage with my passport.

Is there anything I can do?

Nope. (Except to offer to collect it in person if it's approved before your flight).

Except, I'm not in Mumbai but in Bangalore.

Have you got your visa in time i.e., before your journey? I am also stuck in similar situation. Day after tomorrow is my journey. I have not yet got my visa. Spain Embassy, New Delhi is not responding positively. I am feeling helpless.

Unfortunately there is very little you can do. Except polite enquiry. As far as know this is pretty common practice for many schengen countries nowadays. If you are traveling by invitation a request by sponsor might help. Embassies don't care if you might miss the flight etc.

It is absolutely essential to place your visa application well in advance as the law clearly states that processing might take up to 60 calendar days ( then a decision must have been taken ). So procrastination or late application is your risk. As well is buying a flight. As only reservation is recommended. Lesson brutally learned by myself.
Only advice I can give is to avoid this for future and don't risk to get blacklisted. Wait and see as you would/ should have an easier processing if you have been granted a visa once ( and returned properly as that's the main fear!)

Hello guys, Did you finally get your Spain Visa on time from BLS ? I am in a different situation as my trip is on 4 th November 2017 and I submitted my Visa on 8th Sep at BLS Mumbai. However, I have an official trip to UK midway (in next 2-3 weeks) for which my employer needs my passport to process UK visa. I am not sure when will BLS provide it back. This UK trip was pre-planned as I joined this new organization last month. If I don't travel to UK my onshore manager is going to be really annoyed. I am not sure if I should check with BLS/Embassy so soon ?
