I have submitted my application for passport re-issue this week on 06-May-2013 at Kolkata RPO since it is was going to expire this month.

Presently I work in Bhubaneswar and got married in January 2013. Before marriage I was staying in a small rented room on a sharing basis in Bhubaneswar from Oct 2011. After marriage I have shifted to a new rented apartment in Bhubaneswar from Feb 2013. I don't have any address proof to show my last one year residence proof in Bhubaneswar. Since I visit my hometown every weekend, I have given all my communication address as my hometown address for bank, LIC etc. When I tried applying for re-issue of passport in Bhubaneswar, the agents advised me that I need address proof of Bhubaneswar to apply in Bhubaneswar RPO.

So I have applied in Kolkata RPO. In both the permanent and present address, I have given the address of my native place in West Bengal. Along with that I have submitted the marriage certificate for addition of my spouse's name.

However an office colleague informed me that it will be a problem since I have now shown my present address in the passport application. I have checked the passport application status and it as showing that Police Verification has been initiated on Post PV basis to SP Office. Printing of your passport is in progress at the Passport office.

Please advise me how do I resolve the matter and what are the consequences? Can I submit any additional form to the RPO informing about my present address. What documents do I need to produce for my present address since the utility bills are not in my name? How can I clear the issues in the meantime as post police verification has not been done yet.

Waiting to hear from you.

Unable to understand how exactly you have shown the present address and what exactly is your problem?

The police personnel will visit only the address(es) mentioned in the passport form. You may visit the police station under which given address falls and enquire about the PV status.

i think his problem is that while he has been living in bhubaneshwar, all his documents point to an address in kolkotta, so he applied for passport in kolkotta, and is now wondering if he did the right thing.
he mentions that the passport status is "being printed", so perhaps he applied under the tatkaal scheme.

Your Office colleague is right. To put it bluntly, you lied on your passport application. And whatever made the RPO decide to issue a passport on Post PV (police verification) basis, will double backfire on you. A post PV is when the RPO decides that you seem to be a decent enough guy and issues a passport first and then gets a PV done. Consequences may include a penalty and delay in getting a passport or if it gets issued by then a Impounding notice.

As documentary proof of your stay in a shared room, prior to marriage, get a letter from the landlord (saying you were a tenant from DDMMYY to DDMMYY) along with a address proof in the landlords name and a letter from your employer confirming the same. Get address proofs also of your current address, get to the RPO in Kokatta, explain and apologise profusely, ask for forgiveness and advice on how to resolve the matter. If they are generous, they may let the lapse be, transfer the application to BBSR who should then get a PV done at both of your places of stay, and then issue a PP. Else may include a stiff penalty and a lot of grief.

Hi Adam. I have applied under normal scheme.

Hi Narendra. I understand that this has created a problem. I want to sort out the matter. Kindly guide me on this. Do I need to take an appointment to sort out the matter? Whom should I meet in the Kolkata RPO office? I will get the documents about my previous stay and letter from my employer, but it will take some time. In the meantime if the passport is printed and delivered, what should I do? Do I need to send a letter to RPO informing about the same?

See the 2nd para of my reply above. Start with the Help desk, they should guide you without an appointment.

The penalties are mentioned on the official website and were around INR 5500 before the fee hike. Current I have not checked.

i understood that your application was dated 6-may-2013, and in 2 days, you have a "printing" status. that led me to believe it might have been under tatkaal scheme. normal passports do not get out so quickly ( 3 days counting today) , or perhaps i am mistaken.

I filled passport application on 30-November-2009 at Berailly (Website :- http://passportstatus. nic. in/passmain. php).

This application was rejected with following reason mentioned in the Bareilly Passport Status website:

Passport File Reference Number - BLY-A048246-09
I checked the status on 04-July-2011 It was shwing below message.

"Furnish a fresh application from with all columns filled up and all declaration signed. "

Currently I am living in Pune on Rent and I want to apply again for the passport from Pune. Whiling filling new application online there is one column asking for if I ever applied the passport.

Can I mention my Old file number ?

I wants to check my old appliaction status BLY-A048246-09 . Now the old wesite (Website :- http://passportstatus. nic. in/passmain. php)is not working.

I checked in new website and I am getting wrong file number.

how can I check my old file status ??

Sorry for delayed sight!

First of all, you should check the status of old application by visiting the RPO. You should get it closed if it is still open. You should collect status report.

You will require to enter the status of earlier form. Referenced URL is not active now, so you won't be able to check the status of file online.

BTW, you should not enter personal details like file number, etc in a public forum.

The passport application form should contain the current addresses and all the addresses where he/she has resided during last one calendar year and he/she requires to submit copies of address proofs of all addresses where he/she has resided during last one calendar year.

There is no way out!
