Hi,

My passport is about to expire in June. IT was issued in UP. Since I am in Pune, I will apply from PSK, Pune citing existing address as current and permanant.

1. The existing house is owned by me. and living here for 7 months. Can I show it as permanent address, as it is owned?
2. The existing location is just 7 months old. Prior to that I was staying as tenant at different location in same city. Do I need to furnish the address proof of the previous rented accommodation as well.

Please guide wrt to above points considering the re-issue of passport with address change as well.

Please read the Article at the beginning of this thread, it has answers to your Q's. In brief, you need to provide address proof of ALL addresses you have lived in in the past 12 months.

HI Narendra Sir,

Thanks for clarifying it. I just re-confirmed as the passport website says documentary proof of present address only along with application. Now, I assume that I need to submit the proof of previous address along with application itself.

I can provide the following for the previous address
1. Notarised lease
2. HDFC bank statements ( recently passport office said pvt banks statements wouldnt be considered)
3. Vehicle RC certificate
4. Have a voter ID card serial number-(voter card hasn't been issued till now). Can be verified on CEO site.

Please advise, what all to be included.

1 and 2 should do, RC is not accepted as address proof, and Voter ID is required, number won't do.

Actually, HDFC statements are officially not accepted anymore. So they may not be accepted in practice.

Agree, though Private bank statements are reportedly not accepted now (I had submitted an ICICI statement a few years ago, in addition to other docs), in this case it will only confirm the lease agreement being genuine (and not created only for the purpose of acquiring a passport as some people do)

Passport Police Verification Question

Hi all,

I have applied for a passport reissue in PSK (with change in personal particulars, present address change and spouse name adding), Coimbatore yesterday which is my present address. The house I am staying belong to my sister and I have been living as joint family for the past 6 years.

Unfortunately I have proof only for 2-3 years when I started my bank account. I gave my passbook as a proof of address in my application.

Now my passport status says that 'Pending for physical police verification at your respective Thana under SP Office, District Coimbatore rural'.

I have read in forums that the police will as for address proof and the proof I have been living there as well.

I mentioned in my application I have been living in that address for the past 6 years. Should I show proofs for 6 years or just one or two years is enough ?

Passport reissue question

Dear Friends

I applied for reissue of my passport on 10-Jan-2014. There was a change in my name (addition of surname), change in address and also addition of spouse name. Also, I applied for fresh passport for my 2 months old daughter on the same day.

In the acknowledgement copy, for me "No verification required" was mentioned and for my daugther "Pre PV required" has been mentioned. On 10-Jan-2014 night itself i received an SMS stating "Passport printing has been initiated for your file number..."

Since then it's been 13 days and still my passport status on website states "Passport has been granted on 10/12014. Your application is under processing. You will get an sms/email once your passport is dispatched"

for my daughter PV was completed yesterday (22-Jan). But the passport website still states, "pending for police verification"

Is it possible that my passport is also not dispatched until PV report is submitted for my daughter? If no PV is required, passport should be dispatched on 3rd working day right?

Please advise

Thanks
Vikas

You should receive your passport latest by Monday or Tuesday.

Status on website gets updated once the documents reach RPO. It takes three to four days.

Thanks Prakaant.

But is my passport also held up because of my daughter's PV status?

bala21: The Police will not ask for proof of address beyond a year. Also the proof can be in a family member's name as well. I don't think you have much to worry.

vikas951951: No, you passport is not held up because of your daughter's PV. I am actually surprised, because its children's passports that are issued without PV and most adults who get after PV.

As rightly informed by Narendra, there is no connection between issuance of your passport and your daughter's PV.

Thanks for the reply Narendra. Yes. Even i was surprised that there was no PV for me and they asked for a PV for infant

However, since inspite of NO PV..I haven't got my passport yet, so that kind of takes the surprise away from the surprise element, I guess.

Anyways, so is it possible that I might get the passport next week. Is a 20 days turn around time "normal" under normal mode or should i start getting worried now?

A passport without PV or post PV should be in hand in a week in most cases. I am sure you have nothing to worry about and it is just bureaucratic lethargy.

On a more positive note for the efficiency of the RPO, my brother got a reissue of passport with NO changes, in just 2 days from submission to passport in hand, applied and approved on 20th Jan, in hand on 22nd afternoon.
