Post your Indian Passport Application questions here ONLY!

Hi friends,
Since I don't have any proof of address for applying fresh passport, I need your suggestions.
1. I am residing in a rented house in bangalore.
2. I don't have any permanent address.
3. No ration card, no votder ID, No bills and no running bank account.

Now suggest me guys what should I submit as address proof.

I have driving licence, PAN card, 2 wheeler RC book and gas connection(its in mom's name).

Very much confused to submit proof of address. :-(

The passport office will be within its rights to ask you, if you do not have a Bank account, why do you even need a Passport. How old are you? There is no reason you should not get one if you do not have a permanent address or if you stay in rented accomodation.

1. Not a problem if you stay in rented place. get a letter from the landlord with a Landlords address proof if you do not have a lease agreement.
2. Not a problem.
3. Get a bank account, apply after some time. Are you employed, if yes how do you get paid? Or how old are you? If you are young enough and still studying, parents passports/ documents will help you get a passport.

Hi,

I am new here, pardon me for any breach of syntax. My query is related to my Tatkaal Application for Indian Passport.

I have applied on 1/1/2014 for Tatkaal Passport. However I could not furnish the Verification Certificate, hence offered the 3 out of 16 documents. PSK refused to entertain my application and forwarded it to RPO after submitting the fees for Tatkaal (INR 3500) and verifying application and documents. My police verification report has also been forwarded to RPO. The current status for my application is "Police Verification Report for your passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office. After Police Verification Report is found clear, passport will be dispatched. You would receive an sms/e-mail once the passport is dispatched."

However when I visited RPO, they said that they are verifying the 3 documents and waiting for issuing authorities (RTO etc) to confirm. And they also targeted a problem with my application. My full name is Hitesh B Trivedi. B does not has any full name. But they said abbreviations are not allowed. It is NOT an abbreviation. I have the same name in all my documents including birth certificate/PAN/DL etc.
I made a mistake in father's name in my application. Instead of writing the full name I uses initials.

My questions are-
1) Can they refuse me the passport even when I am furnishing all documents about my legal name?
2) If they ask me to change the name of my father in the application. What will be the process for it?
3) Or will I simply get the passport after the police verification report is accepted by RTO without the delay in verifying the 3 documents? (The police verification report is okay)

Thank you.

Hi,
I have few queries related to my change of surname and address after marriage:
1. My husband has passport in which our old address is mentioned and my name before marriage is mentioned.
2. now we both are living at new address and we have our bank statements

My question is :
1. do we both have to process for re-issue? or only i have to process for new passport with change of surname
2. I have no address proof except the rent agreement and bank statments.
3. My husband has processed for his visa and his passport is already submitted to embassy
4. On which address should we process our re-issue of passport and marriage certificate and what all documents are required to process for re-issue of passport for change of surname

please help, i am really in big confusion and no idea what to process and how??/

Hitesh B Trivedi - What does B in the name stand for? It may indicate your fathers name or something similar. RPO is correct in saying that Abbreviations are not allowed. You may not have the B expanded in any of the documents, but you have to get it expanded in PAN/Demat/Passport.
1. You will need to expand the B. Passport is not issued with abbreviated names.
2. You need to provide the correct name, whatever that is.
3. Can't say.

shilpy555:
First, it is NOT mandatory for women to change surname after marriage. If you still want to, read on.
Read the sticky in the first post.

Do you have a passport and applying for reissue?

1. Both names in each others passport should be consistent. It is not good to have spouse names/own name in passport are with different surnames in each other's passports.
2. Rent agreement and bank statements are enough or any document in husband's name is also ok.
3. Spouse visa is not issued on the basis of name of spouse in passport but actual spouse passport and Marriage Certificate.
4. Address to be used is your current address ONLY. For more read the sticky linked in the first post.

shilpy- if you're using bank statements as address proof, please note that statements of only nationalised banks are allowed. The exhaustive list of banks whose statements/passbooks are allowed is this: http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppO...ress_proof.pdf

1) So if anyone just has an initial in the name, he cannot get a passport? And if they insist, will I have to get a new birth certificate, PAN, DL, high school marksheet?
2) Can my father's name be corrected without any further fees if I can procure the required documents for it?

1. They cannot get a passport with a Initial in their name in the passport. They can get a passport by just expanding the initial. That's it. You may not need to change any documents. Some communities have the fathers name as middle name, if it is so in this case, it won't be very difficult at all. I too have a middle name that was/is unexpanded in most of my docs, except in my passport/demat/PAN.
2. Without knowing what kind of error, it is not possible to say anything.

Hello,
Can anybody tell me about the documents required for re-issue of passport (before expiry)? The passport website mentioned that only the old passport will do. But is it not necessary to carry other documents like age proof, address proof (address is same as earlier passport)???

If you are unable to expand the middle name, you may drop it.

If the mistake is from your side, you will have to pay for reissue of passport

1. My father's name is Rajendra Bihari Trivedi but I wrongly mentioned R B Trivedi. How difficult will it be to walk around it?
2. B also stands for Bihari which is a family name, from great grandparents. But never in any documents is the B expanded. So? Will I now have to change in all documents including birth certificate, DL, PAN, Bank Passbook etc.

You were required to apply with expanded name.

You should ask the Passport Office for remedial actions. Alternatively, you may ask for resubmission of your application afresh as there are a lot of mistakes there. You will have to first withdraw your application by applying for closure of file.

You may use "Bihari" as middle name.
