You should go and speak to the PSK people. They might have forgotten your application in a heap so to speak.

hi narendra,
i had applied for tatkal renewal of passport on 1/1/2013.
I received my pp on 4/1/2013.
I got a message to go to the respective police station on 8/1/2013 and finished the PV formalities.
Two days later i got a message that my PV is complete.
And from then onwards my status in PP tracking site shows,
"PV has been initiated and reqest has been sent to bangalore sp office."
Does it mean the PV report is not sent from Police office to RPO. how to track it.
What is the next step which i need to take to complete the process. Can you please let me know.
thanks,
vanitha

Passport not received.

I filed my application a month ago (18th December) to be precise, and my police verification was done 10 days later and the status updated to "Your passport will be dispatched once the police verification report is found clear" since then. I needed to get the passport before 10th feb, do you guys think I should be able to get it?

I am 22 yo and my father is an I.A.S allied officer but I didn't see this until recently on the passport india website:

Q: My father is an I.A.S officer. Will the police verification be done in my case? If yes, can I escape police verification by submitting some documents?
A: Dependent family members of Government/Public Sector/Statutory body employees can be issued passport without police verification, if they submit the following additional documents along with their application form:

"Identity Certificate" in original as per Annexure "B" (of dependent).
Standard Affidavit as per Annexure "I".

Now I think i was a fool to go for the normal procedure. Can anything be done now? Can the process be stopped so that I can reapply?
Thanks in advance!

You can't reapply, but probably modify or update the application. You need to ask at the PSK how. Actually it should become easy and quick to get the passport once you get the documents for being a Govt employee's child/dependent.

Hi

I have applied for my son's (1 year old) passport at Kolkata on 4th Dec 2012. The portal status says that the Police Verification will be done. Its been more than one and half months and the PV has not been done (at least they have not come to our house). Now I have 3 questions:

1) Is this a normal timeframe for things to move or was I expecting too much (because when I had applied for my passport around 10 years back standing in those long queues, it took a maximum of 1 month for the passport to be delivered at home)?

2) Both me and my wife have valid Indian Passports then why was PV required in the first place (why I say this is because the norm that I see here is that if the parents have valid passports then the infant's PV is exempted)

3) If you think that this delay in PV is not normal, then can anyone please let me know as to what I should do to follow it up?

passport veryfication

Hi there,
Have you ever get a reply regarding time bond for police verification

Can any of our IMers, who has Police background or has fair amount of knowledge in the workings of the Police Department, through some light on this issue?

I had a known person in Police Department (who is no more now) and he told me once (1) that Police is not supposed to call any applicant for Passport to the Police Station; (2)that Verification of the antecedent must be done secretly without the knowledge of the applicant; & (3) that Police is not authorised to call for documents or photocopies of the documents from the applicant (according to him all the required documents are submitted by the applicant at the time of application in duplicate and one set of documents are forwarded by the Passport Office to the concerned Police Department while forwarding the request for verification). He also told that a few Policemen or unscrupulous fellows in the Police Department intentionally create a situation where the applicant feels that unless he or she grease the palms of the concerned Police personnel, his or her application will be turned down. Now a days, with RTI weapon in hand, it will be difficult for Police to turn down the application so easily. Yes, one more thing... Is there any stipulation of minimum days (as laid down by the Passport Office or Govt of India) within which the Police is bound the send the verification report and that if no report is forthcoming within the stipulated period, the applicant can get the Passport issued without verification or pending verification?

I am sure that there will be someone in the Forum who knows the inside of Police and Passport Department and I request them to please clarify these points for the benefit of novices like us.

Thanks & regards

Asish Das

@ suresh!

Sorry, I didn't get straight reply to my questions raised in the quoted post, as yet. I reckon this is one of such issues, of which no one in the forum has any direct knowledge. Well, I must admit also that I didn't follow up or press for reply either. But I am still interested to know the reply. Thanks.

Actually, when the police come for verification, they check the originals of ALL the documents that you used in your application. Nothing like secret verification. You will need to sign some forms as well, that they have conducted the verification process.
