Question Tatkal Passport Police Verification

Hi Narendra,

I applied for reissue under tatkal scheme with address change and got the passport. Have got a call now from the local police station for post-police verification.

I've a few questions in this regard that I request your help on:

1. I do not have a permanent address as I don't own any property and my family and my mom live in a rented apartment with me. This is the address I've entered as both current and permanent in the passport form. Is this likely to cause problems during police verification?

2. My passport is currently with the UK HC for visa stamping. What happens if the police return a negative verification report after I have a visa stamped on this passport?

Thanks for your help!

1.Owning a property is not mandatory for a passport. You just need to be resident at the address mentioned for the duration mentioned.

2. Why are you worried about a negative report? Unless there is falsification/hiding of info, there is nothing to be worried. Its OK for the passport to be with consulates for Visa processing.

My name is C. Sidambaraselvan. i.e., My name is Sidambaraselvan. My Father name is Chellaperumaal which is used as initial. In this situation how to write my name in Indian Passport application? Whether Sidambaraselvan or Sidambaraselvan Chellaperumaal should be written as Given name? Which name should be written as Surname?

As you said, surname is your father's name, and your name is your given name.

Help me!

Ok, please help me out on this.

I will be moving abroad in March and I need to apply for my wife's passport (fresh one).

a) I do not have any proofs for her apart from a gas connection which was taken in May 2012 (last year) + two gas bills (August and Jan 2013). Will this work? If not, what could be the alternate? Can she use my address proof using the marriage certificate? Could not find anything as such on the website. We have been staying at this address since Dec 2011 (which is more than a year), but how to prove that for my wife ?

b) I created a login and then proceeded to use the online form but then came across the download option of 'e-form'. Now I already have a partially filled online form with xxx id. If i used the downloaded form and upload the xml, will it be an issue i.e.will it be counted as two applications for same applicant?

c) For Pune, what is the best time to apply for the slot? I am planning to go via Tatkal.

Please help me out

It is a common misconception that address proofs NEED to be in the applicants name. That is NOT true. It can be in anyones name, you just need to also provide how the applicant is related to the person on the proof. So for you wife, a address proof in your name and the marriage certificate is enough.

I would not advice you to leave an application incomplete. If you have started something, use that completely. Normally, the Downloaded form and upload of XML is an easier one to complete.

No Idea about Pune.

I have called the helpdesk 2-3 times and they update me the same status.
They have no update and they advice me to call Delhi Regional Passport Office.
I have tried that so many times but no one picks up the phone there.
Ph No. I am trying are -
Call passport reg office 011-26192409 / 011-26166292 / 26174417/26174132/26174180

It may be better to visit the RPO/PSK along with all details and a fresh bunch all proofs that you submitted. It may be that the Police Station has not yet sent the PV or its not updated. A VISIT is what is required. Phone calls/emails do not work with officialdom.

Suggestions needed

Hi all,

Greetings...

I just applied for a fresh normal passport in my District passport office of my local district along with the following

1. PAN Card (ID Proof)
2. SSLC Certificate (Towards my Date of birth since befor 1989)
3. Bank passbok (Karur vysya Bank - a scheduled commercial bank) with 1 year running entry (address proof)

According to the details provided on the passport portal, the above details are suffice.
The officials over there said that the above proofs are not sufficient for my application and demanded me a Transfer certificate which is not available with me. I am a Post Graduate and Transfer certificate is not issued while completiting my course.

I don't know whats the rational for demanding a Transfer certificate and if its not available what could be the alternate replacements?

Your timely help on this matter would help me out a lot....

Kindly Guide me : Confused with permanent and current address

Hey folks ,
I have a question regarding address on passport ,
my friend lives with his parent in a government flat allotted to his parents .
he has been living here for last 15 years .
All his document contains the address where he currently lives(bank account, gas bills, telephone bills etc) .
His grandfather has died but ancestral property has not yet been divide between his uncle and his dad . So technically, he does not really have any permanent address , as he does not own any property nor he is direct inheritor of the ancestral property .
So he want to know what should be filled in the present and permanent address field ?
Since i was unable to help him i said i will research and let you know !! So I am asking the experts out here .

@persakthi: Officials normally look for confirmation of 2 requirements in one document. So as an example a passbook can be used to confirm both ID and address, even though they may have asked for another address as well. You did not mention Why the staff wanted a TC. It sis likely that they are looking for another document to confirm the DOB in the absence of a Birth certificate. You may try providing them another doc that has your DOB.

@horizonrays: See post #17 above. Owning property is nether required nor asked. Permanent address is the address that a person has been resident for long time period. For your friend both Present and Permanent address are the same, the current address.

Thank you Sir for your reply...

But I do have an another ambiguity...

In the passport application under the address section the fields are provided only for House No. and Street name. But in the address proof in which I have submitted contains locality and nearby landmark in addition to the House No. and street name.
My address format as in my address proof

House No, Locality,
Street Name,
Landmark,
City name.

My address proof reflects my correct House No. and street name.

whether by providing only the House No. and Street name in the application form would bring in any glitches...

It should not matter as long as anyone can reach you by reading the address provided. Address fields are flexible.

Minor and applied for passport away from home

Dear Sir,

I am an undergraduate student at IIT Roorkee and my age is 17 and half(minor). I had applied for passport under normal scheme on Feb. 18th , 2013 here in Dehradun PSK. But my police verification is done at home(Haryana) after 3 days of appointment. Still , the status is "Pending for physical police verification at your respective Thana under SP Office, District Haridwar.".

I need passport in urgent for my visit to Germany. Please help in resolving these queries :-
1) Why the status is revealing Police verification pending in Haridwar district as it is being done at home.?
2)Since , I am a minor , I have heard that Police verification for minor take place only at parent home, not at the place where minor is staying. Is it true??
3)If (2) is true, then why the status is not changing??
4) Since I need passport in urgent , please tell the procedure to make the process fast and get it as early as possible!!

Thanks in advance.

Since you are about to approach mature age of 18 years, your passport won't fall under minor category.

Secondly, the police station might not have filed their report so far...
