Hi All,
I want to apply for passport for my 2 month old baby. Both me and my wife have valid passports issued in Bangalore having Bangalore address. Spouse name is also correctly endorsed in my and my wife's passport. I am currently residing in US and my wife is residing at her parents' place in Lucknow. It will be really difficult for my wife to travel to Bangalore to apply for baby's passport.

Is it possible to apply for my baby's passport in Lucknow, when our passports have Bangalore address? What documents will be required?

Thanks

You can apply for a passport in Lucknow for your baby. Is the Bangalore address still valid for both of you, i.e are you otherwise normally resident there. If yes, the same address will be used on the baby's passport. As a parent who is not currently in the country you will need to give permission in writing to your wife to apply and the RPO to issue a passport for your baby. The Baby's BC and both of your passports will be all that is needed.

Thank you for the reply.

The Bangalore address is no longer valid. It was a rented house which we vacated after I moved to US. Can we not use the Lucknow address of my wife's parents' house? My wife has address proofs (voter ID card, aadhaar card, bank statements, driving license) for the Lucknow address.

Please advice.

If your BLR address i no longer valid, then you need to provide address proof of LKO for either parent, passport of both parents with spouse name endorsed, BC of child and Annexure H by both parents individually. The Annexure H provided by you should be attested by the Indian mission nearest to you.

Hi Pavan,

I am in a similar situation. Were you successful in applying from Lucknow? Did PSK accept it?

Thanks,
Vijay

Hi All,

I have gone through all the q/a in forum but still unclear on below questions of mine and need your help.

1. My Wife has passport with Husband name endorsed, and address of her home town where my Daughter is born last month.
2. My passport don't have my wife's name endorsed and is of different address.
3. Marriage Certificate available.

Do we need any other document to proceed with my Daughters passport application?
Do we need to go through Police Verification even though both parents have passports?
Do both parents needed to be present during the passport office visit? Or only one parents visit will do the needful?

Please help!!

Additional point: We want to apply passport fro my Daughter from same address as of that of my wife.

You will require your wife's name endorsed on your passport, hence reissue of your passport is required.

Please read here:

"... If parent(s) hold a valid passport, but spouse name is not endorsed, then they must get the spouse name added in their passport. For this, they have to apply for reissue of passport and get the specified change done in personal particulars. Thus, it is necessary that spouse name should be endorsed on the parent's passport."

1. Yes, Baby's birth certificate. Address proof of current residence. Affidavits and Annexures if either parent is not present/not in India.
2. Generally Infants do not have a PV done, but some do.
3. If you are not present or out of country, there is a separate annexure. See the How to.

Do you really think both parents need each others name endorsed, as in such case i have to go through long process of my passport re-issue. Hence a long delay will happen.

One parent having spouse name endorsed is enough. Goes without saying, that parent (and passport) should be present while applying.

The official website gives a contrary statement while answering Question No 7.

It would be great if jisha could share his experience (of course, once the job is done) for the benefit of visitors.

True. We've had too many people asking this, but no one confirming if what we have said and believe is correct or not. Lets hope the OP does inform us what they actually need.

- As i am in Pune and have issues in travelling to Raipur(where the Passport application will be made as my wife/Daughter are in Durg) due to work load. Does my Passport and Annexure H signed by me will do? or you suggest me to be personally present in PSK at Raipur with my wife/Daughter?

I am assuming here that you and your wife normally live in Pune, but your wife and infant are/have been in Raipur for a short while. In which case, you really need to consider where you apply. Also considering that your infant is just a month old, unless you plan to travel immediately, you may wait for a while (or when your wife re-joins you in Pune) before you apply.

You need to carry passport photos of the infant as its difficult to photograph them at the PSK.

It looks pretty unambiguous to me. It isn't "both".both
