Krunal, you will have to submit a self-attested copy of marriage certificate.

Hi Prakaant,
Thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned while submitting online application I applied as my wife's name same as in her passport, without postfix.
But in my marriage certificate her name has postfix,
So if I give marriage certificate then in my passport her name will be with postfix, and her passport name without postfix.
Will this create problem in future?
And I have appointment in next week only, so will they allow this name difference?
Thanks again for your help.

There should not be any problem. The passport is printed by collecting data from your application form. The supporting documents help in cross-checking information provided there in.

You will get your passport with your wife's name written in the way you have completed your form.

Hi Prakaant,
Thanks for your help.
I went PSK, they raised issue for wife name, but after submitting her passport copy, they were agree.
This status is just to help other ppl, who might facing same problem like me.
You were right, they asked almost all documents for address proof, and 10th mark-sheet. Even any one is going for reissue passport kindly take 10th mark-sheet for ECNR validation.
Thanks.

Exclamation

Hi,

I need to know few things.... I and my wife has a passport before marriage.
I need to add my surname to my wife passport with her address change same as mentioned in my current passport. Currently my wife has only first name mentioned in her Passport. Also, I need to add my wife full name in my passport i.e. endorsed. I have a marriage certificate. I am looking to know all documents which i need to arrange. Please let me know do I need to do two separate Reissue applications and for which one need to do first with all the required docs. etc..
Also, I have B1 US Visa for 10 years, I hope no change or modification required in that.
Thanks for valuable suggestion.

Regards,
Deepak

Yes, both of you will have to apply separately.

Please go through article "How to Apply for an Indian Passport within India and FAQ" to know the procedure of application.

B1 US Visa will not require any change/modification.

Deepak you will have to make 2 applications..
Yourself.. Reissue passport with spouse name added (and any change of address if you want to).. Document.. Marriage certificate
Spouse.. Reissue with name change, spouse name added and address change.. Document - Marriage certificate and your present passport copy for address..

As mentioned before your visa is valid but you need to carry your previous passport with the visa along with your new passport. Bookings will be done with your new passport as the previous passport will be cancelled of as the new one is issued.

The Spouse name in passport is a requirement of the Indian Govt to prevent abandonment of spouses in a foreign country. If it is a concern, you may apply for a Address change and Spouse name addition. Your husband's address proof documents/passport would do for address proof.

Hi,

I have one query... its is related to a fresh passport which I need to apply for my sister.
She born after 1989 and has Birth Certificate, Address proof and identity certificate etc. The only thing is she has only first name mentioned in all the docs including Birth certificate, identity etc. But I want to apply for a fresh passport for her with full name i.e First name + Last name. What are the extra requirements(docs etc).

Thanks..

Help!!

My query is about change of address.

I got my passport 4 years back while I was in college and hence, I have hostel address on it.

Now I am applying for Universities in the US for fall 2015 and wondering do I need to get the address changed? My passport is still valid for a long time; the question is if I will have problems in VISA approval due to the address on passport.

If yes how long does it take to get a new passport and does this mean my passport number will change? because I have been told that I will need to mention the same in my GRE and IELTS application as well.

please help..!

It would be appropriate if you get your address updated while you are applying for Universities in the US.

You may apply under Tatkaal category if you wish to have your renewed passport early in your hand.

I need urgent help

Sorry this is little lengthy and may be complicated

1. My pp has my wife's maiden name as
(Her name, her maiden surname)

2. Her current passport has got her name as
(Her name, my family name)

3. Our marriage cert does not have her maiden
surname along with her name, however
Her maiden surname is there as part of her father's name in our MC

4. Now I want to correct spouse name in my passport
Similar to what she has in her current passport as
(Her name, my family name)

5. I do not carry my family name anywhere
In Official records and I don't want to get into this as it will have a huge impact on correcting too many things

6. I have her old passport (expired) with her maiden name and maiden surname and the new one with her name with my family name

7. PSK is refusing to correct it in my pp and asking me to bring fresh marriage certificate with my family name added to her name, which I think is a non-sense

8. Will any marriage certificate in India captures both maiden name and name after marriage together for wife? ( basically two names)

To resolve this Can I add "also known as" clause in MC against her name if yes, should i make it as
(Her name (also known as her name, my family name))
Or
(Her name, her maiden surname ( also known as her name, my family name))

I have appointment early next week. Please help and advise at the earliest

Thanks in advance.
