Hi Prakaat,

Thanks for this. My husband just submitted his passport for "Name Modification+Address Change+Addition of Spouse Name"

I have another question now.

My Husband's Name is Given Name : AKSHAY , Surname: KUNTANAHALLI MADHAVSWAMY
My Name is Given Name : BHAVYA SHREE , Surname: HARALAKERE KRISHNA

I want my name smaller
If I apply for name change now what name will be added to my name??

1. Can I have the below name during change:
BHAVYA SHREE AKSHAY

2. Or will I get this
BHAVYASHREE KUNTANAHALLI MADHAVSWAMY

Plz tell me Wat's allowed ????

You get what you fill subject to verification of supporting documents.

A person is required to fill complete name in the form and the same appears in the passport.

Hope, your husband has submitted supporting documents for name modification.

Change of name on Marriage or addition of spouse's surname is not automatic or mandatory on marriage for female applicants. So if ou chose you can retain your name as is or change to what you please as long as provide documents supporting the name.

Yeah, he has submitted marriage certificate.
As of now he has applied his name in the passport as Given Name: AKSHAY , Surname: KUNTANAHALLI MADHAVSWAMY

If I give that as supporting documents , all I am worried is whether my Husband's given name should be put as my surname or his surname will be put as my surname ???

Adding Husband's surname is neither automatic nor mandatory. You can as well retain your maiden name if you choose. The RPO will not make any changes to the name given by you.

A Marriage Certificate is required to add spouse name. And generally PSK will request for current address change as well, so you will need current address proof. Address proof can be in your/your spouse/in laws name, but any document that shows the relationship is required if not in your name.

Provide an address where you are currently living, any thing else will cause trouble.

Question Adding spouse name in renewal passport process

I applied for renewal passport process, and want to add spouse name in my passport.

I have marriage certificate, in Gujarat usually we have postfix after the name like ben, bhai, Kumar, lal etc.

My wife's 10th marksheet name shown as "somenameBEN" fathername surname, and the same name is available in my marriage certificate.

In her passport she has post marriage name somename husbandname surname (without any postfix)

In my passport renewal application form I mentioned her name like somename husband name surname (without postfix).

Now my question is Do I have to carry marriage certificate (which has name with postfix) or should i make new affidavit (without postfix name) ?

Note:- In her passport my name is mentioned as spouse.

Hi,

My husband has recently deployed to a project in norway.and I wish to apply for a dependent visa so as to join him there. We do have our marriage certificate with us. My question is that do I need to get my spouse's name added in my passport. Is this mandatory for obtaining dependent visa. Or is it that marriage certificate is suffice document for this purpose????

Only a Marriage certificate is accepted as proof.
