I'll be traveling to Delhi on June 14, '13. I need some help with a lot of things.

I'll be leaving from Kollam (Kerala) on the 11th and reaching there on the 14th. I have to get to IIT Delhi.

However, that's the only thing I know for sure. India Rail Info gives me at least two stations when I input 'Delhi', so I'm not sure which one to pick. I'd prefer the closer one of the two to my destination. Also would love suggestions for a lodge/budget hotel, since I'll most likely be out the whole day, needing the place to only crash at night or freshen up. Or should I attempt to stay at the retiring rooms at the station?

Also would love suggestions for some good restaurants, and sweet shops, too. Thanks a bunch in advance! :)

I'm looking for recommendations for hill stations.

I will be spending a couple of weeks in Bombay in February for my wedding celebrations, and I suspect I'm going to need a little time to rest and relax after that. Consequently, I'm considering spending 5 or 6 days at a hill station before leaving India. It will essentially be my honeymoon, so I'm looking for someplace quiet and beautiful (hence the choice of a hill station).

I don't mind traveling most of a day to get there, but I think Darjeeling may be a bit too involved for the length of time I have. The most important factors to me are:

Relatively quiet
Beautiful
Cool or cold (i.e. highs no higher than 70 degrees fahrenheit)
Local flavor (rather than tourist-generic)
Ability to "explore" the town
Opportunities to do some low-effort trekking (i.e. leisurely strolls through wilderness)

If anyone has any particular recommendations, I would really appreciate hearing them. I've seen lots of lists of the "Best" hill stations, but they all say the same thing: beautiful; cool; stress-free. I'd really love to know what makes one hill station different from another. Also, are the hill stations in Maharashtra very different from the ones in the North? I would expect them to be, but I haven't found any information on how they might be different.

Ok i surrender: after so many researches in internet and in IndiaMike i understood that sleeping near or inside Nagarhole is really too expensive for my idea of travel.
So i am planning to stay in a guest house in Mysore and make a 1-day-tour to Nagarhole National Park for safari.
My questions:

1- any idea of the cost of a taxi that will drive me and my partner from Mysore to Nagarhole where the safari starts, that will wait for us during the safari and will drive us back to Mysore?

2- is it true that there is a bus going from Mysore to Nagarhole in the morning (and, this is very important, stopping where the safari begins) and coming back in the evening from the same point?

3- should i ask to some tour operators in Mysore? any idea of the price or any suggestion on the tour operator?

thanks a lot

I'm looking for a "dry" state in India (I'm a recovering alcoholic) where there aren't any bars. Preferably a small town but not too small. I'd like to rent a small bungalow or farmhouse under $1k/mo with a garden in it. Good internet connectivity or 3g is a must.

I'd like to have some kind of a social life (hence not too small a town). I am Indian and can speak English, Hindi & Marathi.

I'll be staying for at least a month, maybe even 4.

I'd like to avoid the southern states, I had a horrible time in Chennai last year. The people there tend to not respect privacy and individuality much.

Hello All,
Looking for your inputs on my daughters X visa situation. We hold birtish passports and are in Pune since 4 years. Our daughter was born in Pune. We got her British Passport and eventually (1 year after birth) X visa last year. The visa was granted only for an year. The X visa would expire in first week of June.
Here comes the twist, In the hope of avoiding visiting FRRO again I initiated OCI for entire family about 2 months ago. They wasted one month, returned OCI application because I sent only one DD for entire fee, they wanted 4 seperate DDs. So resent the application, it was acknowledged on 14 th May. The OCI website says acknowledged at FRRO mumbai and document printing status in UNDER-PROCESS.
Now I am in dilemma as to what happens if the OCI is not processed before 3 rd June, when her visa expires.
Do I still need to renew the X visa or not ?
Looking forward to your advice.
Regards

Dear friends
I am scheduled to travel to upper Dibang valley for a month long of offbeat exploration with a few mates this June. My itenerary as it stands now looks like this :

Train from Nagpur to Howrah

Train from Howrah to Tinsukia

Tinsukia to Roing

Roing to Anini

Anini to Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary (where I have been invited to take part in an interesting Tiger reintroduction project)

Explorations in Dibang Wildlife sanctuary

Return back to Tinsukia and travel to North bengal and then to Nagpur.

I have 30 days for doing this trip as I understand that I would be venturing in uncertain territories and I would need a buffer of extra days in hand to mitigate delays and blockades. I am in the process of obtaining my ILP through a friend from Delhi. I have gone through some of the writeups that I could find on arunachal but I have not found any information specific to the dibang valley of the state.

Is there anybody here who can help me with the following information :

Status of timings of the ferry over bramhaputra at Roing.

Status of roads further north east from Tinsukia.

Road connectivity from Dibang valley to Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura (as I might travel back by that route getting a glimpse into these states as I pass by)

Any specific info on accomodation details in Dibang WLS.
