Hi,

Are you looking for adventure and nice treking experience in North East Himalaya, I have good plan for you. I have 6 member team looking for few more team members.

I am organizing these treks along with my friends and adventure club for long time. Current Trek plan covers exciting locations very near to Mt. Kanchendzonga with 360 deg view, along with view of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest, Dhaulagiri range.

Here is a broad plan fixed date 26th Dec09 to 4th Jan 2010, trek Route starts from Maneybhanjan to Sandakfu (3636m) to Phalut (3600m) to Kalizar Sabnam valley (8,600-11,600fts.altitude) to Achelley Dara and finally we will reach to Uttarey valley. I have 6 members mixed gender team now. Looking for 4 more members to make it richer.

There would 1 day of sightseeing in Calcutta at the start of our trip, 1 day in transit from NJP to Maneybhanjan, then 6 full days (5-6hrs) of trek + 1 day stay in between for acclimatization in Sandakfu and ending in Uttarey . Let me know if you are interested, please write on the email id given below, i would love to share more details on cost and other details.

Trek route- Trek starts from Day-3 and ends at Day10
Day-1- Calcutta sightseeing during the day, catch the train in Night for NJP
Day-2- Reach NJP (8.45am), have breakfast and take Jeep from NJP to Ghoom to reach Manebhanjan
Day-3- Trek Maneybhanjan (2134m) to Meghma (2670m) to Jaubari (2750m)
Day-4- Trek Jaubari(2750m) to Giribash to KalaPokhari (2950m) to Bhikey Bhanjan (3350m) to Sandakfu (3636m
Day-5- Stay in Sandakfu for acclimatization
Day-6- Trek Sandakfu (3636m) to Phalut (3600m) via Sabarkum
Day-7- Trek Phalut (3600m) Shinglila Pass - Overnight stay in Phokteydara in tent , nature camping
Day-8- Trek-through Phoktey Dara, stay in tent
Day-9- Trek - Uttarey - Overnight stay at Uttarey.
Day-10- Half day Stay in Uttarey and Dept to their destination

Once you confirm, I will take care of arrangements and logistics on food, porter, guide, log hut stay, tents, sleeping bags, mats, utensils, Cal sightseeing etc. We would be crossing two territories. Our trek will start in WB and would end in Sikkim. There permit and other stuff we need to take as we would be along the border of Nepal. I would be working on that once I have fixed participants.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Everyone,

(sorry to dubble post, this is prob. where it belongs)

Does anybody have experience with trekking in the North of India, possibly aranged from Delhi? In a few weeks, I will start my North india tour (now I ame working in Hyderabad). First, I wil do the touristic things in Delhi, Agra and jodhpur. Then go to Jaisalmer to do a trek into the desert for 2-3 days. From then, I want to visit the north of India. Via google I found a lot of organisations offering trekking, but most not in the winter. I am 25, fit but unexperienced and would like to trek for 5-6 days max. I can leave jaisalmer around 8 dec, so can be in delhi at the 9th. I need to be in mumbai 17 december the latest. How should I organize a trek? Do I need to find other people since I ame alone? Which organisation would be a good coice to go for in the winter?

Thanks for the help,
Teun

Dear Climber,

We are organising an expedition to climb the world's eighth highest mountain in the world, Mt Manaslu (8,163 m), currently the most attainable 8,000m peak.

We are organising this climb with Monviso Treks and Expedition from Nepal in 2010 with world-class climbing sherpas and in the spring which is the best season for this type of climb. We have managed to secure places at very competitive prices.

We are looking for additional keen climbers interested in joining us on this unique climb. We can accommodate climbers of most nationalities as we speak English, Italian, Spanish and French between us.

Full details of the expedition along with prices can be found here:

Please note: climbers already taking part in this expedition do not have any financial stake in this expedition but are merely looking for other climbers interested in joining us on this unique opportunity to climb an 8,000m peak.

Thank you,

Best regards,

Hi

I am planning a trip to Vaishno Devi in Dec 09 (first week). While I am a regular trekker (for over 14 years now, I will be accompanied by my wife (aged 30)who has one trek (kuari pass) to her name, my brother aged 48 (no trekking exp) and my father-in-law aged 64 (who is physically fit - but with no trekking experience).

I understand that the road route from Jammu to Srinagar and Leh is closed in winter (in Dec).

Few questions

1. Is it a right time to touch Srinagar. If yes - then how does one go about doing it as some websites indicate that the road route may be closed?

2.Is it feasible to travel to Leh from Jammu by road in Dec?

3. Would it make sense for us to explore some trekking options in Himachal pradesh - for eg around the Mcleodgang - Triund, etc?

4. We are looking at a 3 to 4 day trek.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am interested in a hike or really a climbing trip in the middle of December 2009. I am going to be in Kanpur/Delhi.
I know this is the "wrong" time of the year, but am hoping I can still manage to do something interesting.
I will be visiting Kanpur December 12-15 for business (conference).
I am a climber with intermediate experience, interested mainly in Snow/Ice. My major expedition has been last summer to two intermediate (technically speaking) mountains in Pamir/Tajikistan, of altitude 6200m and 7100m.
My time limit is probably no more than 4-5 days.

What would you recommend? How can I contact relevant guides? Are there people who would like to join as partners?

Thanks!

I have often wondered why we are so fond of mountains, forests and rivers. I have travelled a lot in india but for the last many years my destination has been the Himalayas- first it was just Haridwar,Rishikesh and Kashmere, then Valley of flowers and Badrinath-next Amarnath- then Gangotri and Gomukh and for the last 2 years Dodital,Yamunotri and again a sort of transit camp at Bebra gate. Now when ever I can I want to go only to these ranges. Why is it that so many people are trekking to these ranges, i have often wondered. What is it that call us to these mountain ranges, forests and rivers? Why do our minds become filled with awe and joy looking at the ice clad peaks and the thick forest filled ranges? Is it a sort of love of the mysterious, the unknown which make us feel how small we are and how insignificant? Is there an element of the annihilation of self when beauty overpowers us.As J.K puts it where self is not beauty is.Is it the reason.

Hi all,

Is this itinerary do-able in dec end for Pindari?

Day 1) Bageshwar - Song - Dhakuri 40 km drive + 14 km trek
Day 2) Dhakuri - Khati - Dwali 16 km
Day 3) Dwali - Phurkiya - Zero Point - Baba's place 13 km
Day 4) Zero Point - Khati 19 km
Day 5) Khati - Loharkhet 19 km
Day 6) Loharkhet - Song - Nainital 3 km trek + Drive
Day 7) Spare

I am doubtful about Day 3 & 4, if its doable?

Also any other suggestion for 4-6 day trek in dec end. I've been to HKD and Dodital last winters and don't wanna go for Sandakfu as it'd be damn crowded am sure.

Thanks

Ideas for hiking in Ladakh

Hullo!

I need help!:) I need some ideas on a holiday in Ladakh end of June next year. I’ve been there before but I couldn't trek then. This time I need an idea on doing some short hikes there.

We are a group of 6-7, with 2 small children (3 and 8 years old). We’re looking for a holiday that can include a mix of trekking and sightseeing.

Can we basically do something using one place as a base. The older people and the kids stay back and look around or stay in a camp and chill out, while the middle lot does short, but intense day hikes? Basically what I need to know is, can one do day long hikes in Ladakh which are also fairly intense.

Can we do something like this staying in Leh? Alternately, since I couldn’t cover Nubra last time, can we use Nubra as a base (either Diksit or any of the other villages?)

We will be in Ladakh for only about 5 days. Also, a mix of nationalities so one day will go in getting permits and acclimatization.

TIA!

Hi¡

I would really apreciate you help for telling me about treks that can be walked in India en august, considering that I am not carrying with me a tent.... and that I would like to do it without guide.
I am thinking in something like Annapurna trek, in Nepal, where you can stay everynight in guest houses and eat as well along the way.

Is it possible to find something like this in India and in August?

Thanks for your help¡

Sandakphu trek in last week of December

Hi,

We are a group of 7 people (3 male, 2 femals and 2 children (10 years) who are planning a trek to Sandakphu from Maneybhanjan on 25th December. 3 of us are first time trekkers. Would like advise on the following:

Is December last week the right time to trek to Sandakphu?
What would be the weather like? Would we find snow on the way.
What type of trekking gear should we carry with us?
How cold would it be on the route?
Would it be possible for a child (11 years) to trek the entire route in December?
How difficult is the terrain?

I am asking too many questions, but would appreciate if someone could guide me on this

Thanks
