Good hotels in India

I want to review good hotels I've stayed in in India.

The Birders' Inn, a hotel quite near the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur is divine. It is a wonderful hotel, maharaja tastes at middle range prices.

The food was very good. On the days when the restaurant also was scheduled to feed passing tour groups of birders, a buffet was provided. On other days, you ordered from the menue. As I was getting a little tired of the same cook's hand after a lunch and dinner buffet, my partner and I went to a local palace hotel to try a different kitchen. We found another tour group buffet that was of the same quality, but different hand, so that was a nice change, but the prices were double what we paid at The Birder's Inn for the same quality food!

Our room was spacious, clean, and interior decorated in light Maharaja style---marble floors rather than ratty old carpets, light block-printed cotton curtins rather than heavy drapes housing dust, mosquitoes, or mold. The furnishings were Raj era, and the walls were decorated with paintings in the style of the inlaid stone work that ornaments so many 16th and 17th century Moghul buildings. The hot water never ended in the bathroom, and the electricity never failed to turn the air conditioner or fan. Outside our room, the garden was well manicured and inviting, to sit and relax in the quiet and clean air. Althogether a wonderful place to stay on or off a budget.

Despite the occasional tour group stopping in for lunch, the place is very quite and has the feel of being off the beaten path, even though it is located on a national highway about half a mile from the entrance to the bird sanctuary. It's not a bad location from which to explore the historic buildings in Bharatpur, too. The Turkish-style baths in the Bharatpur palace museum are worth seeing. And it's nice to be in a provincial town that hasn't yet produced enough air pollution to make you sick, unlike the bigger India cities.

add / delete data

Correct spelling mistakes

avoid multiple postings one after other( in case member remembers something to post, after sometime, he can edit the same post)

Hi all,

I've added a Hide/Show options link on the top right of the forum home page (http://www.indiamike.com/india/) that toggles the visibility of the right-hand column on that page. The purpose if to give those users who don't want to see the navigation options more real estate for the main content.

I will be adding more functionality around this concept in the coming few weeks, but I wanted to get this simple piece out to test out some of the logic and let the IndiaMikers get used to it.

Please let me know if you see any errors while using it.

Thanks.

How do re-post a query in the right forum

Hi,

I joined IndiaMike recently. I wanted some advice related to a road trip that I am planning. After joining the forum, I went directly (or maybe the workflow took me there. I do not remember) to Introduce Yourself forum. I posted my question there by mistake. After a few days while revisiting the site I realized my mistake and reposted the same query in Itinerary Advice forum. However I got a message that I had been penalized one point for posting something twice.

I have no intention of breaking the forum rules but how do I correct this mistake and re-post my query in the correct forum. I am considering the wording of my original query a bit and then reposting. However I am not sure whether that will still count as an violation.

Thanks,
