Hi,

I am heading to yercaud in december. I am planning to stay in Hotel Tamilnadu may be because I have seen that the Govt. hotels have the best location, though the service is not great.

I would like to hear your experience of "Hotel Tamilnadu" in Yercaud.
1. Are the rooms clean?
2. Service is decent enough to go with kids?
3. Any other inputs?

Thanks,
Jyoti

Hi forum,

I'm new tothis forum as a member, but have been lurking for a long time. Great information on here! In about a month I will go to India for the second time, this time to southern India.

Amongst many other places, we'll be visiting Madurai. I read about some restaurants having a view of the temple area and gopurams, but now that I need the info, can't seem to find it.

Any suggestions for great places to eat lunch with a view?

Thanks ahead!

Hello all,

I will be in Kerala and was wondering if I should make a trip out to Kanyakumari. My question is if it's worth it to see the land's end. Is it something special or can you not even tell that 3 different bodies of water are meeting there?

Also, I heard something about seeing the sunrise and sunset from the same beach there. Is that true on every night or just on a full-moon night? Also this might sound like a stupid question but do they happen at the same time or you have to wait like 8 hours after the sunset to watch the sunrise? If that's the case, can't you do that anywhere? What would be special about Kanyakumari?

Also, is it sunrise and sunset or sunset and moon rise? I have read both but not sure which one is true.

Thanks in advance for all the replies.

I am hoping to travel across Southern India from Chennai to Kochi over the course of a few days next month. It's a bit of a whirlwind trip, and I need to know if it's feasible. I'm considering hiring a car and driving as I'm imagining it's quicker than relying on buses or trains - don't worry, I'm not mad, and I have driven in India before - but am also wondering whether taxis between destinations are an affordable alternative. Any advice would be gratefully received.

The proposed itinerary is as follows:

Tuesday 8th

Late morning - arrive in Pondicherry

Wednesday 9th

Spend day in Pondy

Thursday 10th

Morning – car to Thanjavur (how long?)

Rest of day and overnight in Thanjavur

Friday 11th
Morning – Car to Madurai (how long?)

Rest of day and overnight in Madurai

Saturday 12th

Car to Cochin – 6 hours?!?

Overnight in Kerala

Also, any tips for the journey?

Many thanks,

Not sure which state forum to put this query in, but since I saw lot of Ooty/Kodai in this one, decided to put it here..

I am planning to travel to some of the above mentioned places with my wife in Dec 4-13..Have been to Kerala and HP earlier, so not a first-time traveler...Only purpose is to relax, see a lot of nature, bit of sight-seeing..so nothing like a must-see, must-do plan..Wouldnt want a too hectic travel plan, as i would prefer to stay at a place for 2-3 days, rather than traveling everyday to a new location..

In view of this, what would be a good travel plan? Am from Mumbai, and would probably fly both ways..Does Bangalore-Coorg-Nagarhole-Ooty-Kodai-Coimbatore sound too intense compared to what i said...Can anybody suggest an alternate itinerary? Is it a lot of the same(too many hill stns?) and something else you would suggest? Broad guidelines would be fine..i will research and finalize the details myself...

Have been to Mysore/Chennai/Bangalore earlier and so not keen to repeat those.

Cheers
