I was just in Raipur and just wanted to say that the new Punjab Palace Hotel right downtown is a great bargain for a nice business class hotel. It's AC rooms (with great bathrooms, giant beds, flat screen TV etc) start at 1000 Rs. That is only 500 Rs. more than the dirty, run-down places near the train station and bus stop. I highly recommend this place!

I did go through most of them and have a fair idea about the places and distances. I needed some specific advice, hence starting a new thread.

I intend to visit Omkareshwar, Maheshwar and Mandu in November. I have a pretty packed schedule, which in hind sight i think i should have added more buffer to.

I'm arriving in Khandwa on saturday morning at 7 AM and have a return train to catch from Khandwa on sunday night at 9.

I had 2 plans in mind -
1.Go to Omkareshwar for a dip, Come to Maheshwar, start by late afternoon and reach Mandu for lodging in the night, visit mandu the next day and return to Khandwa
2. Go straight to Mandu from Khandwa. See the place and spend a night. Start in th morning and reach Maheshwar, and then go to Omkareshwar and come to Khandwa.

My questions -
1. Do these sound feasible? Which one is more advisable?
2. Maheshwra and Mandu seem quite close on map. Are they connected by bus? Can i bank on this route?

I would like to make the trip as less tiresome as possible as my parents are old. Here is what I am planning to do. Please correct me if this does not look practical.

We have about 1 and half days to cover both these temples and for some sight seeing in Ujjain. Here is how I am planning.

Day 1: We will arrive in Indore at 10 AM.

1) Leave from Indore by taxi to Om Kareshwar. 77 KM.
Question: Should I assume that this will take about 2 hours?

2) Reach Om Kareshwar at around noon and have darshan.
Question: Can we get darshan at noon or are there temple hours posted somewhere.

3) Spend a couple of hours there and leave to Ujjain around 2:30 PM. Reach Ujjain at around 5:30 PM.
Question: How much would a taxi approximately cost from indore to Om Kareshwar to Ujjain for 4 Passengers. Is there a place in Om Kareshwar where we can get lunch.

4) Check-in at hotel in Ujjain.
Question: Can you recommend a decent and safe hotel that's also close to the temples.

5) Visit Maha Kaleshwar temple around 7:30 PM.
Question: What time will the temple close?

6) Have dinner and rest for the day.
Question: Any recommended restaurant for a good south indian vegetarian meal?

7) Bhasma Aarthi: We want to attend this but I heard there are limited number of tickets per day.
Question: Is it at 2:30 AM or 4AM. Is there a way to reserve for it or is it first come first serve basis?

Day 2:
Visit other mandirs in the city and catch a train to Bhopal at 2 PM.
