We arrive in Delhi late Sunday night and leave for Agra early Tuesday morning. We had organised a private vehicle to take us on a day tour of Delhi on the Monday, but now realise that a lot of the tourist sites ( including the Red Fort which was to be the highlight ) will be closed. Can anyone suggest the best way to spend the day and give the kids an introduction to India ( this will be their first day of a five week holiday there ).

Hi all,

Just a quick question...

I'm flying into Delhi International and then out of Delhi Domestic to Kochi. Can anyone tell me, are they both located in the same area?

Also, if I want to fly back to Delhi from the south - either Goa or Mumbai, is it fairly easy to book a flight online whilst in India? Any recommended airlines?

Thanks!

I am looking to find some work as a British expat in Delhi and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice?

I am a qualified proofreader and currently work in the editorial department for a magazine in the UK. I have 2 years of experience in editorial.

I know that a lot of publications in India are in English and am looking for magazine publishing ideally but book publishing would be an option.

Does anyone have any advice about recruitment companies or good magazines, newspapers or book publishers that would be looking for someone with an excellent grasp of English and a keen eye for detail?

Doing a trekking tour north of Delhi in December

Hi Everyone,

Does anybody have experience with trekking in the North of India, possibly aranged from Delhi? In a few weeks, I will start my North india tour (now I ame working in Hyderabad). First, I wil do the touristic things in Delhi, Agra and jodhpur. Then go to Jaisalmer to do a trek into the desert for 2-3 days. From then, I want to visit the north of India. Via google I found a lot of organisations offering trekking, but most not in the winter. I am 25, fit but unexperienced and would like to trek for 5-6 days max. I can leave jaisalmer around 8 dec, so can be in delhi at the 9th. I need to be in mumbai 17 december the latest. How should I organize a trek? Do I need to find other people since I ame alone? Which organisation would be a good coice to go for in the winter?

Thanks for the help,
Teun

Anybody have any first hand experience of the shuttle service that runs between the international and domestic terminals?

I take it that it is a bus service running every 15 mins/half hour?

Is it reliable and is it well signed from the International Arrivals hall?

Many Thanks

Last spring I was in search of a homestay in Delhi for our trip (just ended). Someone recommended Nina Kochhar's place, http://delhibedbreakfast.com/
I'd thank you in name but I can't find my thread off hand (a combination of jetlag & dim-wittedness).

Nina is the best!!! It cost $75 a night for two of us. This is a real bargain.... I am against staying in the budget hotels of Paharganj from experience, and it is my philosophy that you should budget your trip so you can have a comfortable place to return after a day of running about. And Nina's place is perfect and safe and delightful.

We made arrangments five months in advance, and she helped us with all our plans. She helped us get into an exclussive event at the India International Center, at the Gymkhana, and VIP seats at a record launch, but also a 5 AM run to the veg market in Old Delhi as well as a trip to some country roadside dhaba to stuff ourselves with parathas (tandoori style, not fried!). And we just think the world of her, so we have now a friend too.

And we were with her for 12 nights. The same amount of time in a hotel, even one we love like Hotel Broadway, would have been so confining and lonely.

Nina has helped make this the best trip (out of four) to India for us.
