I had planned on doing this trip, but unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to make it this time round.

I've booked flights with AirAsia for the above dates, but it appears that I can't get any money back by cancelling them now. They will, it seems, allow for a name change to be made on the tickets for a fee though.

Therefore, if anyone is thinking of travelling those dates I have a (singular) return ticket going that I would be willing to offer quite cheap.

If this is against site rules, I apologise. Mods please feel free to delete.

Hello

We will be flying from London on Jet airways in a few weeks to Mumbai and then transiting to Cochin on Kingfisher. Any advice is appreciated!

1. Does Kingfisher offer a free shuttle btwn Intl and Domestic?

2. Which terminal is Kingfisher Domestic in? This is very unclear online...

3. Can we arrive at the Domestic terminal earlier than 4 hours before our flight? (we have an 8 hour layover)

Thank you!

Trip is from Boston to Mumbai, stopping in London for about a week on the way to Mumbai. Dates are flexible by +/- 5 days, leaving mid-Jan, back end of Feb

Local travel agent is quoting around 1280 usd, without bargaining. If I go in and say I'm ready to buy right now, maybe they'll take off a few bucks.

Vayama and makemytrip are about 100 less, but without the stopover, which costs about 80.00 according to the agent. The flight is on Virgin and Jet. Agent says Virgin is much better than average and Jet is waaay better than average, even better than Singapore.

I don't know about Jet being better than Singapore, but I know all (most?) of the US/European carriers are crap and I've heard good things about Virgin and Jet and I'd be willing to pay a premium of about 200.00 usd if it was a better flying experience.

Any thoughts on whether a) the fare is decent and b) whether it's worth paying 200.00 more for Jet/Virgin?

Thanks!

I'm a 25-year-old student at University of Toronto. I'm planning a trip to India for about 25 days. Here's the things tho - I've never left Canada before!

I'm leaving Toronto for Tokyo on the 17th of December. I'll probably stay in Tokyo for a week and then fly to Kolkata. From there, I think I will travel to Varanasi, then make my way by rail to Goa. I need to leave Goa on about the 16th of January to come back to Toronto.

I feel like there are probably things regarding flights that I don't know .... and probably don't even realize I don't know. Ie - money is an issue for me ..... I have heard it's cheaper to book numerous connecting flights rather than one long flight .... is this true? Does anyone have advice on the best/cheapest way to get in and out of India? I'm using expedia ... don't know if that's a good idea or not.

Thanks for any help

Hey guys- I stumbled upon an awesome opportunity for people looking to travel the world for free. KLM is sending two people round trip tickets to any of their destinations. It’s SO EASY to enter. Go to http://www.if.net/KLM-US. Seriously the best thing ever!

Bangkok to Chennai

Hi,

I'm considering 3 options for flying into India from Thailand (I have to reach Chennai by specific date)

1. Evening flight Bangkok to Kolkata by Kingfisher, then 28-hour journey to Chennai by train
2. Evening flight Bangkok to Mumbai by Jet, then overnight stay in airport/hotel in Mumbai, then morning flight Mumbai to Chennai
3. Morning flight Bangkok to Mumbai by Jet, then evening flight Mumbai to Chennai

prices are roughly the same - it's a bit cheaper to fly into Kolkata if then take Sleeper class in the train, a bit more expensive with 2A class, but all within +-10% range.

As I see, advantages/disadvantages are:
for the first option - long train journey, spending the whole day in the train, travelling in Sleeper is not very comfortable, hard to get tickets for other classes - waitlists are already rather long. By the other hand this route looks more direct - no unnecessary sidestep to Mumbai and only one flight, train travel may be more interesting.

for the second option - two flights instead of one, overnight staying in busy airport or rushing to/from hotel for a relatively short sleep, airline seems less classy than Kingfisher. But saving one day and avoiding long train ride.

3rd option compared to 2nd has shorter connection, but neary the whole light day is spent in flying-connecting-flying.

What would you choose?

Hey folks!

For those of you how are not already aware, Air Asia has opened up more flight paths to India from KL. Flying from say, Kolkatta to KL costs $75. Including taxes. WTF. Truly inspiring stuff. Of course flights from Melbourne to KL are also ludicrously cheap.

FYI:

Any suggestions about what is peak season and non-peak in that month? Any recommendations of fares for that month. Is February a better time to travel for cheaper fares?
