Will my Airtel prepaid be working when i return to India?

Hi, do you know how long a prepaid Airtal account remains active without use? I bought the sim card from an Air Tel shop in Chennai, i don't know the validity details, but i left India a week ago, i am in Nepal, and i will stay here for 60days.

I just want to know if my Airtel will be working when I return to India? The period without use is 60 days.

Thanks

I don't know if this is correct (sounds like it), but a phone vendor told me yesterday that a sim card is to be barred (by government decree) if there are no outgoing or incoming calls made in any continuous 90 day period.

You may be ok with 60.

I can confirm this. My Vodafone prepaid SIM-card was disconnected after I left India on November 30th and only returned on March 7th. I had to get a new one. However, the new uncharged card didn't cost anything. I just had to call everyone I knew (which I intended to do in any case) and inform them of my new number.
The people at the Vodafone Store told me this was a government regulation so it applies to all providers.

Consider the SIM wiped. My Airtel prepaid SIM was cancelled in Dec 2012 because of lack of use for 45 days. Which is the new cut off point.

Do you need ID for this process? Or is the fact you have the 'old' SIM in your possession enough? I had a problem getting hold of my Vodafone SIM in the first place, and I've arrived in India just a week after the 60day deadline, bad timing!

I like your avatar pic (Patna!) I'm heading there now
