I have uniden cordless phone bought from usa (120v) and I would like to use it in India (220v). I do not want to use step down convertor because my other phone got ruined after a month. So I decided i will change the adapter but i need help in selecting this .. Here is the info below:
ORIGINAL UNIDEN ADAPTER :
input- AC 120V
60Hz
6.5w

output DC 9V 210mA

REPLACEMENT ADAPTER BOUGHT IN INDIA:
input 220v, 50Hz, 10mA
output: DC9V 500mA

Can i use this adapter? Will it work for my cordless phone? Does it matter that the original input is 6.5w and the new adapter is 10mA. Not sure how to convert mA to watts. Also please note the original adapter output is 210 mA but the new adapter is 500mA - is this ok.. ? Can someone please specify the adapetr input and output details required for this phone to work in India. . Thanks in advance

What you need is a stepdown down transformer with a voltage stablizer. Certainly 500mA > 210mA

W=V*A where V=Voltage and A=Ampere so you do the simple 3rd grade math

We bought adaptor (scanned images of the box attached) works well with our Panasonic phone with one base station and two hand sets (all cordless). We bought the phones at Walmart for around $ 100 in the US. We cut the pins that came with the original adapters and conncted them to the adaptors we bought in India (Riyad electronics at Karaikudi, Tamilnadu. Care needs to be taken when connceting to the corrcet + and - ve terminals. This works fine for one year so far.
