where to get a mobile SIM card in Delhi

Hi Folks,

Can anyone recommend a place where I can buy a SIM card in Delhi so that I can call all around India and text to family back home (Australia)?

Is it easy to top up the SIM card ?

Many thanks for any help.

There are thousands of shops selling SIM's and do topping up too. You need an address and some documantry proof of this address to get a SIM. Due to security concerns vendors adhere to the rules strictly.

Airtel has a counter at the Arrival lounge itself.

You need A copy of the passport, 2 Passport Size photograph and a local address proof (Hotel/Guest house).

Many thans thanks for your quick reply.

What sort of documentary of address is reqd - like a booking reciept ? Is it necessary to hand over a copy of passport or do they just get sight of passport ?

Seems very involved but if thats how they do it then so be it !

Thanks again.

They need photocopy of Passport as proof of your permanent residence. They want same thing from Indians too (a copy of bank statement, or Voter ID card, or some other ID) ..... so that they know who the owner is, just to deter miscreants.
